iPad keyboard case for iPad 9th gen
Keyboard cases are heavy and I don't really enjoy typing on them (keys are small as the keyboard is sized to iPad). Ended up not using for my iPad 10. I think a better combination for me is to have a full size Bluetooth keyboard that I only use when at desk and iPad plus Pencil when away from desk. Your usage might differ though. More on reddit.com

Hi. I’ve just picked up an iPad 9th gen for work and projects. I’ve been looking for a case which has a keyboard. I like the Logitech combo touch but it seems to make the iPad heavy however, I like how the keyboard detaches from the iPad and it is still protected.
I don’t like the Apple Smart Keyboard as it doesn’t protect the iPad and seems a bit flimsy based on reviews.
Any recommendations for a light keyboard case which has a detachable keyboard and is also good quality would be much appreciated.

How often do you use it? I use mine 7 days a week and for work heavily 4 days a week. The other 3 days are personal use. I generally get 1-2 years use out of the $35-$40 price range keyboard cases. I have bought a couple with a warranty that has gotten me around 1.5-2 years and ultimately gotten my money back.My current case was $39 plus tax and purchased in Feb 2023 and the hinge is getting sloppy. It will probably fail in the next month or two. Long story short….anyone have a case brand that gets you a good 5-6 years?

I recently received a iPad gen 9 for work. I’m looking for a keypad with touch pad just like the Magic Keyboard for the gen 10. I really prefer the whole set up of that particular keyboard case. I’m not a huge tech guy so I didn’t know about compatibility issues. I just assumed the new stuff should work with the old stuff as long as the software was up to date. The Magic Keyboard for the gen 5 is exactly what I want and the size difference is minimal. Does anyone know if that will work? Is there anything similar to that style that will work with the gen 9? Even if it doesn’t fit properly ie the iPad itself self is a little smaller than the magnetic case. Or would I be better off getting a keyboard and a separate mouse set up for it since it seems keyboard with touch pad options are slim. Thanks for the help. Pictures for example.

Okay there are a few things here to break down: You can’t get one like the Magic Keyboard for the 9th gen. That iPad doesn’t have the magnets to hold it in place. And the Smart Connector is in a different location. The iPad 10 isn’t compatible with the Magic Keyboard. Only with the Magic Keyboard folio. I know this sounds dumb and confusing but the two are very different even though the name is very similar. If you’re looking for a keyboard with a trackpad the only decent option is the Logitech combo touch. Honestly all the others are poop. If you’re looking for my actual recommendation look at the Smart Keyboard and the Logitech pebble. Reason being is the combo touch is fucking massive. And makes the iPad really long when you have it fully out. Like no joke it has more depth than a 16 inch MacBook Pro. Personally I don’t think that is a fair trade for the slight added benefit of the trackpad. So I would just get a mouse as well.
