Sub, can you please explain what and why makes Frances McDormand so great. I’m honestly not trying to be rude, I just don’t get it and haven’t gotten it for awhile 🥲
Her grief was tangible in 3 Billboards. She disappeared into the role. Shined above the others in that film imo. More on reddit.com
Would you be okay with Frances McDormand tying or even passing Katharine Kepburn for the most Best Actress Oscar wins ever?
My thing is Frances won 3 Oscars for playing three vastly different characters; a naive optimist in Fargo, a heart-broken hot head in 3 Billboards, and a depressed introspect in Nomadland, and all three were very deserved. It's extremely impressive. More on reddit.com

It was a meh year. I think it was a great opportunity for Carey Mulligan to snag an Oscar. Don’t get me wrong Francis McDormand is the Mt Rushmore of female actors and this was a wonderful performance, but I just feel it wasn’t her best. More on reddit.com

To me it’s always been that her characters don’t seem like they are being played by an actor. It’s like it’s a real person. Like she doesn’t exist, only all the characters she’s played, if that makes sense.
