Bought a house in September 2020 with two furnaces and two AC units (one in attic and one in basement). Towards the end of 2021 we had an issue with our furnace and called a local company. Based off a serial number on unit, the tech told us the attic unit was likely 24 or so years old.
Just today I found an article in the local newspaper about my house being sold in 2009. It mentions two NEW furnace/ACs being installed. Contacted the agent in the article and he sent the MLS listing confirming new units.
Why is the HVAC tech saying these units are 24 years old?
It was bought in 2009 from an investment group (foreclosure) and sold in 2010 to a family who we bought it off of last year.
Is it possible the investment group is lying that the units were new?
