Has anyone regretted getting a single unit adjustable base when you sleep with a partner?

I can't imagine a single adjustable base for 2 sleepers would be an ideal situation. The only time I think it would work is if you use it to watch tv in bed together but then both sleep flat. For it to work for sleeping, you would both have the same sleeping position throughout the night (back sleeping) and prefer the same settings. Your wife sleeping 'on anything, anywhere, anytime' is likely a result of the apnea not necessarily preference. I have a split king and the seam in the middle is not an issue. Getting the best sleep of my life has outweighed any of hassles of having 2 twin xls (changing the sheets, each of us having separate blankets, etc). More on reddit.com

Adjustable bed insider here, willing to answer any questions.

My husband has back issues (has had a 4-level fusion and some other problems) and for the past few months has found it too uncomfortable to lie down flat. He has been sleeping in my recliner which seems to alleviate the pain, even though it's too small for his height (6' 4"). So we started researching the options and decided that we would begin by buying a very good mattress. We bought a pure talalay latex mattress from Flobeds, which we love, but unfortunately it doesn't do the trick for my husband's issues. Next we tried adding wedge pillows - not a solution.

So now we're looking into adjustable frames. I have been dismayed by the difficulty of finding good information on the various brands of powered bases. Things I care about are motor quality, manufacturer's willingness to stand behind its product, features that are specifically likely to help with back pain and, unfortunately, price.

I was so happy to come across your post and have already learned that lumbar support is something we'll want, as well as the head tilt function. I think the wall hugger feature is important too. What sources can one rely on for factual information? It's generally not easy to determine what type of motor is used and where the product is made, and what a company's track record for reliability is! The MALOUF line looks very nice to me, but seems quite expensive. Any thoughts?

Is attaining a "zero gravity" position going to be possible with all of the better brands? Easier on some models? Since we'll apparently be getting the massage feature on any base that has lumbar support and head tilt, is there anything noteworthy to consider in that regard?
