I don’t want to buy shit clothes off fast fashion websites for obvious reasons but I’m struggling to not pay a fortune to increase my wardrobe size. Any suggestions, hopefully online?
I’ve noticed most of the brands I buy have reduced their quality. I’m bored of shopping at Uniqlo and the likes, any recs on clothing for a 30year old that doesn’t break the bank?
These days I usually get my clothing from Marshall’s, occasionally Amazon or Aeropostale. I’d like to branch out. Where do you all shop at?
Let’s face most of us can’t afford luxury brands and don’t want to spend $40+ on a Free People shirt
One option could be consignment/2nd hand. There's a consignment place near me called greene street and they have free people etc all the time, for like 50+% off. Some of the other consignment places that have nice stuff here are clothes mentor and style encore. Plus it's very environmentally friendly to buy used clothes rather than new ones.
Most items under $50 (These stores are more fashionable)

Most items under $100 (These stores are more aligned with active/outdoors wear)

Looking for some cheaper online clothing stores! I live in Canada so shipping can't be outrageous. I need clothes for the office. It's business casual so I want to experiment with style!
I keep getting ads for places like CUPSHE, Shein, Cider, etc., and I honestly have no idea where to start. I’m 30Yo and looking for clothes that are cute, decent quality, and not super expensive — a mix of basics, work-appropriate stuff, and some trendier date night outfits.
I’m open to online or in-store, and I don’t need anything super “ethical,” but I’d prefer things that last longer than one wash.
I have bought a few things from Shein/Cider/CUPSHE because the cheap prices are so tempting, but quality seems hit or miss.
My questions:
What are your go-to stores for affordable but decent-quality clothes?
Are there any Shein/Cider alternatives that are better quality but still have the low price tags?
Any tips for shopping sales or finding good-quality pieces without spending a ton?
Thanks in advance — there are so many brands out there and I’m overwhelmed!
Hi y'all. I've been a stay-at-home mom for 9 months now. I'm feeling nothing but frumpy lately. I really want some new clothes, I mean NEW clothes. Most of what I own is at least 10 years old, and the stuff that is new to me came from thrift shops or hand-me-downs. My closet largely consists of goth or emo styled clothing, mostly black and denim and some DIY, which I loved but none of it fits anymore and I no longer have the time to alter, recreate, or make anything. I'm doing a closet cleanout and back to the thrift it's all going. I want new stuff. ACTUALLY new stuff. I need to be able to try it on, as my whole body shape obviously changed postpartum and I have no idea what'll look good on me anymore. But looking around, everything is SO expensive and I don't know what to do. I just want clothes that fit. Any recommendations? I'd extra appreciate some plus-size friendly, alternative leaning recs. Though I know those categories don't go together very often.
Without TMI, I need to save money so I’m looking for clothing stores that are cheap but nice quality. All the online stores that people recommend are still too expensive for me. Any recommendations?
Im in my last semester of college and hopefully moving into the next chapter of my life as a working woman! Other than thrifting some lucky pieces every once and awhile, I was wondering if you guys have recs for where to get affordable but nice looking clothing like slacks, button ups, nice blouses, that are comfortable and still fashionable as well. Thank youuuu love this sub so much❤️👯♀️
Thanks for all the amazing suggestions and feedback! Since there’s been a lot of great conversation around this, I wanted to share https://bellumaire.com/ , a brand that focuses on stylish and affordable fashion for entrepreneurs. I thought it might be helpful for anyone still looking for similar options. Feel free to check it out!
I (25F) want to start a capsule wardrobe and want to avoid fast fashion such as Pretty Little Thing and Fashionova. What are some great stores/websites to find quality clothing that will last long without breaking the bank?
What are some good quality clothing brands that are mid-range prince for like business casual pieces in Canada/USA. Items that will last me a long time or 5-10 years.
We all love new clothes, but you don't need to spend tons of mone to look good. Ask for recommendations for affordable alternatives here!
Questions, recommendations, photos of your outfit, are all welcome.
For some background, I'm 18f and I really hate like 80% of my clothes, it's just that they're really outdated or really childish items that I got when I was younger or that my mom has bought for me. I don't really have a sense of personal style and I would like to play around more with clothes.
I've already removed every item that I don't like from my closet (I didn't throw it away I just put in boxes in a storage closet we have in the house) and just left the things I liked. My closet is now really barron.
I'm not asking for a cashmere sweater for $9.99, I know that's unrealistic. I just want to know if there is a online store out there that sells decent quality clothing at a somewhat cheap price.
I know is a better long term investment to buy great quality items for a higher price but currently I don't have a lot of disposable income and I don't really know what looks good on me or what I like. So, I don't really want to splurge on something that may not look good on me or I wont like a month from now.
Edit:
Thank you to everyone who commented here, you've given me a lot of ideas and a lot of very good suggestions. I'll probably have to write them down and go one-by-one. I definitely did not expect this many comments but it's been a lovely surprise. Thank you again <3.
Preferably clothes that don’t need to be dry cleaned but aren’t cheap polyester crap. Is there such a thing? I’m thinking of Madewell, Gap, and BR. Is their quality any good?
Clothing prices are out of control and thrift stores are raising their prices too. I tend not to buy a lot of clothes but some of my older clothing items are getting worn down and raggedy now because it's been a long time since I got them (sidenote, turn those into wash clothes for using around the house to repurpose them!).
When you guys need new clothing items, what do you do? What stores are good for that these days. By new I mean new to you they can be second hand or thrift Ed.
Where to find cute yet cheap clothes online and in person stores??
Hii so I'm 5'4, and I have so much trouble finding clothes that fit me. I weigh about 107 right now (however I constantly vary and have a bust of 29.5 I believe? But I do know for sure that I am a size 2 when it comes to bottoms.
I'm just having so much trouble trying to find things that fit me. They usually don't fit my bust or it's too loose on me. I usually find myself going in the kids section for skirts and some shirts which kinda bothers me. Any suggestions??? Where do you guys shop??
only places are shein or depop but they're normally very overpriced on depop and shein is obv not a good place to order from. i have the option of thrift stores but i don't like going out and id rather shop online cause its easier since i only have apple pay (and i don't have to annoy my mom asking her to go to a store.)
Hello! Fashion and personal style has always been difficult for me. Often times I see people on the internet wearing clothes that I like but the clothing is like $300+ for a pair of pants. I don't want to buy from fast fashion brands like Shein or Cider. I also have to wear pretty conservative clothing because I volunteer with kids and teach them how to machine after work. I also tend to be sized in between plus size and the largest straight sizes available. So in short, it can be hard to find cool clothes in my size, that are also conservative enough to wear in a machine shop.
I would love to know where you all like to shop, what is your personal style, and how you developed your style! If you don't have a personal style, or you wear clothes more for function that's cool too! I want to know what qualities you find important in the clothing you buy.
