I am a bit confused about installing cores manually, core that do not get installed with update_all.sh.
I note that the .rbf core files are located in the cores folder on the SD card but also they are in the _console, _Computer etc folders. Do I need to copy them twice in both folders?

_console, _computer and _arcade are directories for the different platform of cores. So if you had a Playstation3 core that would go in the core directory for PS3 and the "game" directory would have a PS3 folder for the games. Sometimes you need BIOS roms aswell.

Support for savestates will not be coming to any of these cores. Do not ask. If you would like to learn more, see issue #59 and this discussion on the MiSTer forums. I highly recommend the updater tools by @mattpannella and @RetroDriven. If you're running Windows, use the RetroDriven GUI, or if you prefer the CLI, use the mattpannella tool. Either of these will allow you to automatically download and install openFPGA cores onto your Analogue Pocket.

I have always been hesitant to run Update All for months and months. Today I decided to finally plug my Mister with the ethernet cable and after running the script.... the list of Cores has been cut down by more than half. I'm approximating more than half due to how quickly I reach the bottom of the list of Cores when scrolling down.
NES, Playstation, Genesis, etc, gone. Strangely, when I put the SD card into my PC, the folders are present. They don't appear when using my Mister.
Any advice or suggestions?
EDIT: Correction, the GAMES folder still has each folder named after the missing consoles, but the "_Console" folder itself only shows the short Core list.

Wow, cores from 2022. We got an antique here, fellas! Update_all is designed to be a one-stop shop. There's really no reason to be afraid of running it. The worst that can happen is it fails to update a few things because filenames get changed or whatever, then you just delete the folder and let it rebuild. You're most likely having the issue because there has been a major update to the script since the last time you ran it, and you will need to go to the github and download the latest version. After that, the script should update itself.

update_all - Newer fancy method of updating the Main Mister OS, Jotego Cores, Mame and HBMame files, Filters, cheats, TTY2OLED files, linux etc. Can be controlled with ini files to customize its options. You can also set up update_all to use the downloader script for update purposes.
