Water cooling is for aesthetics or extreme overclocking. You could spend $500 on a water cooling setup just for your CPU and GPU to have midrange binning and you are still stuck with performance as if you were on air. My Noctua U14S has served me for 5+ years now. My 5700x3d barely hits 71/72 degrees under full load and if my room is A/C, 70 tops. I see other people post their water cooling numbers on their 5700x3-D and mine is usually cooler Answer from hebrew12 on reddit.com

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: 5800x3d (aio vs air-cooler)
May 29, 2025 -

So, recently decided to go back to an air cooler from a 420mm Arctic liquid freezer 2. I felt like since I wasn't over clocking (you can't on that chip) I figured I'd remove the variable of an eventual leak or pump malfunction. I was going to just save the cooler for when I make the jump to AM6 since those are going to be more power hungry I'm sure.

Before vs after and I cleaned up the cables a tad more.

Did I make the right choice or it doesn't really matter?

I just bought a 5800x3d, but I noticed that this cpu does not come with a cooler. I tried looking up which one to get on YouTube but they gave me mixed answered on the cooler that I should get. So do any of y’all have any good cooler recommendation?

Edit: Wow thank all of y’all for your responses, this really helped and I was able to narrow down a great cooler :)

Air cooler for 5800X3D - Hardware & Peripherals - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
July 21, 2023 - Hey everyone! I’m probably switching from a 3700X to a 5800X3D cause I’ve found a good deal. Not sure yet, but might happen. Thing is I’m in doubt with cooling. I know the 5800X3D runs hot. I’m currently using an ID Cooling SE 224 XT with dual fans (single tower 4 heat pipes), which is rated for 180W, and the 5800X3D is a 105W CPU.

Question - 5800X3D: What is the confirmed, recommended COOLING SOLUTION? | Tom's Hardware Forum
July 3, 2022 - Confirmed by who, AMD? They haven't done anything like that. Negative. Simplest answer: Tower air cooler OR 280/240mm AIO, mounted in the front That case's design is focused on positive pressure; the lack of top ventilation means a more straight forward front to back approach.

Choosing the Best CPU Cooler for AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D - TechReviewer
October 31, 2025 - From my experience, it's best to opt for a larger air-cooled heatsink with one to two fans or even consider a liquid cooler, which I've found to be generally quieter than air coolers and offer better cooling performance.

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: AIO or Air Cooler for my 5800x3d?
February 15, 2024 -

Context here:
I live in Brazil and it's summer right now, not always i have my AC on (only when it's unbearable)..

My 5800x3d is being cooled by the first version of Fuma 2 (not rev b) and while it's doing it's thing, i'm still not confortable in let it run at 80º-81º while playing some CPU intensive games (i game at 3440x1440p)...

i know that's whithin the normal temperatura for everyday use, but, still, like i've said: i'm not comfortable...

With all that being said...what AIO or Air cooler would you guys recommend that i could lower those temps to at least 70-75 levels?

i'm already running PBO2Tuner -25 all cores...

Thanks in advance and sry about my english

Question - Recommended CPU AIO for 5800X3D | Tom's Hardware Forum
January 22, 2023 - If your current 120mm AIO is exhausting air then the hot GPU is probably preventing it from doing it's job properly. You might simply try moving it around (if you can) to see if it helps. I did that with mine and the improvement was amazing: temps on the CPU dropped 10C while GPU temps didn't change. ... You do not say what your case will accommodate, but right now my two top choices are the: EK Nucleus CR360 Lux D-RGB AIO (or the 240 size variant) ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 (also available in 240 and 360 variants) The EK Aio is a new design, the Arctic has been around quite awhile, both seem to be great options.
