lost my right airpod pro gen 2 and wanted to get it replaced. emailed the apple store retailer (we have no apple store in my country) and they quoted that a replacement will cost around 125usd and take 3-4 weeks to arrive since it has to be ordered abroad. is that too expensive? i feel like it is considering only one airpod is getting replaced and now i’m contemplating just getting bose qcii since they’re about 50usd mor

Bought AirPods Pro in January 2020 when stock was still very much come and go and have used them daily since then. Since around February this year they started crackling in the left ear and I thought since they were over 3 years old they wouldn’t be replaced under the programme…
Went in to Leicester Highcross Apple Store (UK) today and asked for a set on Gen 2s (to buy, full price) and they asked me if I had AirPods before. Told them about the crackling and they persuaded me to book a genius appointment in 1 hour and have them checked regardless of warranty.
Anyway… 1 hour later and 10 minutes at the Genius Bar they came back and said both had failed and I should have to pay £172 for new ones but they’re just going to change them for free!
I was more than happy to pay for a set of gen 2s as I wanted the new features but quite honestly they are expensive and the different just with new first gens is night and day.
So thank you very much to the staff at my local Apple Store and if anybody else is having a similar situation go and get yours checked, even if you’re out of warranty you might get looked after anyway!
Lucky, I don’t even have an Apple Store near me
I have had a few good experiences with Apple.

Before AppleCare covered damage: new iPod Nano (latest one) went through washer. Took to Apple Store to pay (whatever the cost was) for replacement, staff said "that iPod looks defective" and gave us a new one, no charge.
-
My son dropped his iPhone. He has AppleCare+ and was willing to pay for screen replacement (I think it's $39). Apple employee says "Nah, that screen looks like it has a defect, come back in 30 minutes. No charge."

Took my MacBook (2015 model) to the Apple Store for warranty work - they didn't have the part, so they handed me a new 2017 MacBook.
Apple does have customer service that is 2nd to none.
I should add, I also took a MacBook to an authorized dealer - and service was the same. They send the information to Apple and base their answer on Apples response. So it's not like Apple employees are doing anything special, they're following Apple guidelines.
Hi everyone! These are my AirPods Pro 1 that I bought on 5th May 2023(leftover stock), and I had been having a lot of issues with the right one for the past 3 months, Noise Cancelling being weaker than the left one, weird beeping while using controls and the volume being less upon connection to my phone(I had already tried resetting my AirPods), so I finally decided to call apple about the issue day before yesterday. This was my second time calling apple support.
On the call, they recommended that I try resetting my AirPods first to which I responded that I had already done that once and I that the problem didn't fix itself, then they proceeded to make an appointment for me at the Genius Bar for the next day(they also offered me to create an appointment on the same day but I was busy that day), to which I agreed promptly, I had never been to a Genius Bar before so this was a new experience for me.
I went there and one of the people there scanned my appointment QR code and were ready to help within 2 minutes, I explained to him my issue and he told that he will take my AirPods into a sound concealed chamber for testing and check for the frequency response of the AirPods before proceeding further, to which I agreed. 5 minutes later, he came back and told me that both are outside apples spec, the left one is also having static(which I didn't notice), but the right one was worse. He then told me that I don't have to worry and this is covered under warranty, he came with 2 boxes of new left and right AirPods and put them in, and said that I have to go home and charge these for 45 mins in the case before resetting them and pairing them as new. I also got 3 extra pairs of ear tips too, sweet!
Came home, plugged them in, reset and paired them to my phone and now they work better than ever! They also sound way better than before, even the left one sounds much better, I didn't notice how bad they had become. The whole replacement process took like 15 minutes and was seamless af, gotta give apple credit for this.
The reason I made this post is for people who are having issues with their AirPods and are in the warranty period(but are hesitant if they should take theirs in for a check), please take your AirPods in to the Genius Bar if your feel like there are anything wrong with them, I'm pretty sure apple will be able to help your out with them, I had a great experience with them.
EMAIL I got after replacement: Email
I lost my left AirPod Pro 2 (Lightening version) and I refuse to pay Apple $89 for a replacement. I also don’t want to wait weeks for shipping.
Does anyone know of legit stores, either online or in person, that sell authentic single replacement pods? Ideally somewhere that ships fast or has good reviews.
Thanks in advance.
TLDR
my airpods pro are barely functional and i want new headphones/earphones with a good audio quality, preferrably bluetooth but i dont mind if they're wired (or maybe both, idk). i have a $280 USD max budget but would really like to not spend that much. could you give me any recommendation on headphones/earphones to use with my iPhone 12? thanks!
Normal version
So I use an iPhone 12 and I've had my AirPods Pro for a few years now and they're barely functional, I mean the audio works but the bass just kinda 'buzzes' everytime like if something were out of place, noise cancellation works but has like an 'echo' that repeats every 3 seconds it's so annoying, and the ear tip that I used broke recently so they don't even fit alright anymore.
I really liked them but I think it's time to say goodbye to them since I believe repairing them is just not worth it. I recently got the 3-month Apple Music free suscription and didn't really feel a difference (probably because of my airpods' state) until I used my Razer headphones on my PC with lossless audio and 7.1 surround sound, I just can't describe with words how amazing is the quality.
I am looking for recommendations for new headphones or earphones with a good audio quality, i'd prefer something bluetooth since i find them more comfortable to carry around but i don't mind if it is wired as long as the quality is better and supports lossless (or maybe something wired that can be bluetooth? i don't know if there are any headphones/earphones like that but it would be cool too). I have a max budget of around $280 USD but I do not know if it is enough for what I am looking for, and sincerely I wouldn't like to spend that much.
I don't really know anything about sound quality nor headphones/earphones so any recommendation or help on choosing is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Just got home from the Apple Store. Got a replacement right AirPod Pro (2nd gen). I was told to let them charge for 30 minutes then attempt to restart them. I’ve done that and keep getting this message. My only guess is that maybe the guy at the Apple Store gave me a gen 1 AirPod Pro replacement? Any thoughts?
Just ordered a left pod replacement off ebay. Following every single guide to pair my case and singular right airpod together have led me to the same place each time. It won't even connect to my phone again after forgetting the device (with the original airpod and case only). Is there anything I can do?
Just thought I’d share for the benefit of others.
I’d had my airpod pros for 3 years now, last couple of weeks they developed a crackling/buzzing noise in the right earphone. Took them to Apple, they did a sound test and found the right pod failed on the crackle test (common issue apparently)and both failed a frequency test too.
They replaced both airpods there and then, free of charge! Happy I thought to ask as I was considering buying new ones.
Hopefully this helps others with the same issues
I reached out to Apple and customer service made it sound like they will still replace them even though it’s after the 3 year recall program window (purchased in Dec 2019, manufactured before Oct based on the serial number ending in LKKT).
They’ve had the stupid crackling sound and noise cancellation issues ever since I first purchased them, but somehow I only just now learned about the program they offered 🤦♀️ I completely missed it, how am I supposed to receive information like that in the future for possible recalls on my devices?
I’ve hardly ever really used the AirPods anyways since they’ve always had issues. I always thought airpod pros just sucked. I’ve read a lot of old posts in this sub that indicates even newer versions of the AirPod pros also suck and have issues? What kind of EarPods are people getting nowadays if not Apple AirPods?
A few months ago I noticed my AirPods Pro making this horrible static/crackling noise when using ANC or transparency mode. It makes them practically unusable. They were purchased December 28, 2019. I heard about the replacement program and I’m wondering if I can get mine replaced. Would I qualify? Or am I screwed since mine were purchased December 2019?
Hi, I recently replaced both airpods because of some crackling and static noises issues. I replaced them using Apple Care, however there is a program for that.
https://support.apple.com/airpods-pro-service-program-sound-issues
I noticed in some ways that the airpods did have some losses in the area of bass and noice canceling.
My new airpods replacement came in today and I was BLOWN AWAY. The bass and noise canceling of these new airpods are completely uncomparable to the one I sent. I honestly don't understand how this issue might happen for a defective airpod, because they did work, but I just want you to tell you about in case you noticed a loss of basses and thought it was the adapter, or you ears :)
Same, I just got mine replaced and was absolutely shocked the improvement.
I am an hobbyist producer, audio engineer and a musician. I could be one of the worst in the world as I probably am, but believe me, two things are true: the first is I didn't understand why the bass seemed to be gone on the old ones. I tried repositioning the tip and in the end I thought that I simply remembered wrongly how these airpods seemed to sound good at first and how good the ANC was effective. When I put on the new ones it was like, OMG.
So I recently replaced my lost right AirPod Pro Gen 2 directly through Apple. I did the whole process of leaving the AirPods in the box charging, but when I went about doing the whole “Forget this Device” and reconnecting them to my iPhone 11 Pro (updated to iOS 17) they’re marked as “Not Mine” and neither will connect at all. Any advice before I make an appt at the Genius Bar?
Thought I’d share the experience here for anybody wondering how the process works, I had to learn it the harder way since it was my first time. Yours could be different from mine but anyways.
One way you could tell the difference between the original AirPods and the new replacements are where they’re made from. My old ones said China, the new replacements say Vietnam. Serial number on the new replacements also start with an H instead of a G. Sound quality so far is also slightly better, but I only briefly tested it and I’d have to fully update it to see if there are any changes. Also, the serial number on my AirPods Pro now has a question mark in the settings and the firmware version needs to be updated again to the latest one. Once you talk with the agent, agree to the terms and you pay the refundable return fee, that’s when they’ll start processing everything for you. Shipping time actually was faster than expected, it took about 2-3 days from when I live chatted with them and requested the replacements which was much better than waiting a week to get an appointment in store.
Once you get the replacements, that’s when you have to return the older ones and when the 10-day return period starts ticking (I learned it the harder way, first advisor I talked with really messed me up). Once you get the new AirPods you’re going to have to pair them again, even when you’re using the same case from your older AirPods. Once paired, let it update and do its thing. Then make sure to take your older AirPods and put them in the same box they sent you the replacements in and ship it back to the given address to your nearest shipping service. You shouldn’t pay anything as Apple should have taken care of that for you. As for what’s in the box, there’s the AirPods obviously, but they come in 2 separate boxes (one for the left side and one for the right). In that box also comes with the different silicon ear tip sizes, which I won’t keep since I still have my old ones and won’t make use of these. Just take the new replacements and replace them with the old ones, put the box back together and ship them and you’re good to go. Apple should refund you the money they put on hold on your credit card. I think this was everything but I had to go through a couple advisors because they were saying different things until I spoke with one and she explained everything thoroughly for me. Hope this helps.
UPDATE:
Got Apple Support to call me (using the link in Support) due to the crackling issue in my left AirPod and was told that although I purchased my AirPods Pro on launch day October 2019, because they have not exhibited the KNOWN issues until June 2023, it is passed the cut off point for free replacement or repair and they want to charge me £89 (approx) to have ONE AirPod repaired.
This is when you can buy a new set of AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) from Apple for £249. This is my first defective Apple product so I am very disappointed in this service.
Hey there folks! I've had Airpod Pros (1st gen) for about 2 years, and have used them religiously every single day. Yesterday, I lost my right earbud, nowhere to be found. To replace them, I need to pay 99eur. I'm also about to go on a long family vacation, and need them for that purpose (I'm a uni student, and they make my life so much easier). So, here's my question.
Do I buy the new 2nd gen Airpod Pros for 279eur, or do I pay 99eur for a replacement? Is the upgrade that would now only cost me 179eur more than I would pay anyway worth it?
What do you guys think? Thank you so much!
Hello all, I lost my left AirPod ordered a replacement and can’t seem to get them to reconnect. Have tried forgetting them and holding button to reset.
It’s even showing up as 2 seperate Bluetooth devices despite being in the same case.
Any ideas?
I just got them for Christmas and I never really use apple products unless theyre given to me, i try to be a simple person because this shit makes me feel the rage of a million war lords in peace time. My issue lies in the fact that everything is telling me to just take the one off and pop the other on, but i cant get the other ones on the damn thing I also cannot tell whats a small or a large when it comes to the extra bits because it doesn't have the tiny little marking to tell me on the thing itself But yea the tips on the airpods come with the plastic oval ring which is splendid obviously it needs it to be on there. But none of my extra bits have the same??? So do I like pop out that oval or are all my bits weird or do people just sorta figure this shit out and im being a complete idiot (still help me if i am) Thanks, really angry and considering just selling them at this point lol
