Is there a difference between AirPods Pro 1 and 2?
Yes, there are several key differences:
- The AirPods Pro 2 have improved active noise cancelation.
- AirPods Pro 2 feature longer battery life (5 hours 43 minutes vs 4 hours 20 minutes with ANC on).
- The 2nd generation has a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning.
- AirPods Pro 2 introduce Adaptive Transparency mode.
- The 2nd gen case has a built-in speaker and supports Apple Watch charging.
- AirPods Pro 2 have slightly better sound quality with lower distortion.
- The 2nd gen uses the newer H2 chip for improved performance.
- Only the AirPods Pro 2 support hearing aid functionality.
What is the lifespan of AirPods Pro?
The exact lifespan of AirPods Pro isn’t specified, but there are a few factors to consider:
- Battery degradation is inevitable over time with regular use. Typically, true wireless earbuds last 2-3 years before significant battery decline.
- Apple includes a battery optimization feature to slow down battery aging.
- Frequent charging, especially wireless charging, can hasten battery degradation.
Do the AirPods Pro cases support fast charging?
Both AirPods Pro cases can fast charge the earphones: 5 minutes of charging yields 60 minutes of playtime. In either case, you get an additional 24 hours of playtime with ANC.
New user here, is it worth it to pick up airpods pro 2 over the first generation? Any noticeable differences for new user? Thanks 🙏
Hi I'm looking to get the Airpods Pro and I'm debating whether I should get the Airpods Pro 1 or the new one. Not considering the other aspects like better ANC and battery life, the 1st gen is heavily discounted right now. So to get a feeling of how they sound like, I've AutoEQ my Letshuoer S12's to both of them.
Listening to both tunings, I think I prefer the tuning of the 1st generation. Although it sounds somewhat thinner, I think it sounds cleaner and not as bloaty as the 2nd gen. Obviously since it is just EQ, it might not actually represent the actual case. I've seen many tech youtubers say they sound better but I'm pretty sure it's just because the 2nd gen sound warmer and fuller.
Does anyone here have both of them and may I know how do they actually compare?
I have the AirPods Pro Gen. 1 and I was wondering should I upgrade and if I did would I notice a difference in sound quality for example?
I currently own the Airpods Pro 1, and I am interested in upgrading to Airpods Pro 2.
I have scoured the web and I cannot make a decision. Here is a summary of what I have found from various review websites, YouTube reviews, and Reddit posts:
Most written reviews are terrible. Most reviews spend 95% of the article rehashing what everyone else says about the tech specs, ANC, listen through, etc. Sound quality is the same blurb about the new drivers, but they don't actually comment on the audio quality. One from MacRumors had an article along the lines of "Comparison, should you upgrade", and then later in the article admitted they hadn't actually compared them yet.
The few good YouTube reviews conflict with each other. Some say only the bass improved, and the mids and highs are just different but not strictly better. Some say the sound is mind-blowingly better. Some say they barely notice a difference. How is the experience so wildly different?
Reddit reviews also vary significantly.
What I want to find out is: How much better is the bass, the mids, the highs, and generally the sound quality? When I hear "it's definitely better and it's worth upgrading, but it's not so much better that you need to upgrade", I don't know what to make of that comment. I can tell you the Airpods Pro 1 are technically amazing, but they lack bass, and the mids and highs also need to be better for music listening. There is a threshold of quality (for me) where audio quality is "good enough" to really enjoy it, and the Airpods Pro 1 are under that threshold for music, but they come close. I am trying to determine if the Airpods Pro 2 are there.
Should i buy pro gen 1 or 2022 gen 2? Both new
gen 1: £149.99 my iphone has lightning so i would only have to carry one charger
gen 2: £199.99 usb c
aside from these facts i dont really know much else as i havent had the chance to get my hands on either to test, i care about sound quality and longevity mainly everything else is less important to me.
anyone whos tested both have any advice on which i should pick? thanks
