January 6, 2023 - It takes time to learn your charging patterns. If it thinks that it can charge to 80%, hold there and then charge to 100% just before you unplug (get the earbuds out of the case I guess) then it will do so.

I've had this airpods 1st gen I guess for about three years and I just noticed that last year, it used to charge up to 100%, this time, after putting it in the charger from 10am to 1pm, it only went to 96%. Once you dock your earbuds, they will often miraculously charge above the number it stopped at and eventually reach 100%.
