since my airpods still had the 1 year apple warranty, i brought them to the apple store and they just gave me new ones. I never tried to pry up the contact fingers slightly because I didn’t have a tool small enough to grab them, but also because I was scared to damage and ruin the warranty. If you bought yours within the last year, just bring them to the apple store! Answer from Pam on ifixit.com

r/airpods on Reddit: Right AirPod not charging properly (first gen pros)
January 14, 2023 - It’s “normal” in the sense that if something is blocking the pins, or even erosion damage, they won’t charge that AirPod. This happened somewhat frequently after a few years of having my gen 1s. Best way to combat the erosion damage is placing them gently in the case and not letting gravity and the magnets go ham. Continue this thread ... It has happened WAY too often to me. Proper cleanup or blowing into the case like in an old gaming cartridge helps.

October 31, 2023 - This might cause connection issues and result in your AirPods case not charging. Similarly, if an electrical outlet has become faulty, your AirPods case won't charge despite a working cable either. Therefore, the second solution is to use another cable, charging pad, or electrical outlet. If it works and your AirPods case is charging again, you'll know the problem was with the charger or power source, not your AirPods.

I had the same issue, and a simple solution fixed the problem for me. I wiped off the metal end of the right AirPod, and then used a Q-tip to clean the bottom of the case where the metal end of the right AirPod made contact with the case. Works great once again and holds charge. Hope this helps! Of course, if the problem persists, getting in contact with someone at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store nearest to you would be advised.

I read on another forum that forgetting the AirPods on your device and then resetting the AirPod case by holding the button on the case for about 15 seconds, and then re paring it to your device. I have tried this and both pods have been charging again, for the last couple of days.
