August 30, 2023got an "Akai MPK Mini" recently, need a free windows software like garageband for song making.
Imo, anything simple and easy to use out of the gate is more likely than not gonna be pretty mid when it comes to "actually making songs", and any DAW worth it's salt is gonna take some time to get into if you've never worked with one before. Imo, your best bet is to shop around and try the free demos of as many different DAWs as you can. Do that until you find the one that clicks (for me it was FL Studio). None of them are gonna be easy right away, but more likely than not you're gonna come across one that just feels right. After that, all you can do is practice! :) Edit: That being said, Cakewalk is a free DAW that I've heard pretty good things about! More on reddit.com

If you register the serial at Akiapro.com you will get a license for MPC Beats and a few other goodies. There's also an app for configuring the hardware, ie. what notes it sends for the keys/pads, although that's not really needed for standard use..... More on reddit.com

I have the original MPK Mini Play. I can't find the MPK Mini Play Editor software anymore on the MPK Mini Software Manager. I only see the Editor for MK2 and MK3.
Does anyone have the .exe for the original MPK Mini Play editor (not the MK2 or MK3)? There doesn't seem to be any way to download it anymore. The MK2 editor does not seem compatible.
