Thanks for trying, but it didn't resolve my problem with Samsung AKG headphones. They appear in the device manager, but they do not appear as speakers in the speaker selection at the bottom right of the screen. It seems the device is still considered to be only a microphone and not headphones.

My faded headphones recently broke and I got some AKG usb-c ones from a friend who didn't need them from their s20. They, unfortunately, don't work on my s8.. Does anyone know any way to fix this?
I use an ASUS ROG STRIX and it has only one type C port so switching ports won't work it just doesn't detect them and I have tried updating drivers but it says all of them are upto date. What do I do, the port works fine for other devices and the headphones work fine too.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to use the AKG earbuds that came with my galaxy s20 on my laptop, it does play sound but it doesn't recognize the mic so i can't use it for calls.
I already tried updating the drivers thru the windows device manager
I have a Note10+ and I used the wired AKG earphones that came in the box but when I plug it in the USB C port on the phone it wouldn't work. Sound will just play through the speakers. I restarted the phone and did basically everything but still no luck. Am I the only one? Please let me know thanks
Hello Ivănescu! Thank you so much for reaching out, I am Harvie an independent advisor, and I am glad to assist you today with this issue.
You did a lot of things possible and I understand you struggle so here are some things you can do further:
Step 1: Fully Power Down and Reset USB Stack
Sometimes USB devices get stuck in a bad state and need a deeper reset.
- Shut down your laptop completely (not restart).
- Unplug the power cable.
- Hold the power button for 10 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Wait 1 minute and plug in your AKG Type C headphones and then power the laptop back on.
This helps reset the USB controller and sometimes gets it to see the earphones again.
Step 2: Reinstall the USB Controllers
Since the headphones don’t show up anymore let's refresh the USB driver stack.
- Right-click Start > Device Manager
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Right click each USB Root Hub or Generic USB Hub and choose Uninstall device
- Restart the laptop for Windows reinstall automatically
Then plug your earphones back in and check if they appear in Device Manager or under Sound settings.
Step 3: Check Lenovo System Updates
Sometimes Lenovo laptops need special USB C driver updates or firmware patches.
- Open Lenovo Vantage
- Go to System Update, and install all recommended updates
- Pay special attention to any updates related to:
>USB controllers
>Audio
>BIOS/UEFI
Restart after updates and try the earphones again.
Best Regards,
After the first step the headphones started working again just fine; they show up in Device Manager again too. Do I need to coninue with the other steps?
If not, thank you a lot for your help!
