[Hardware Review] General: The Alienware Alpha: Our Review — MMORPG.com Forums
I’ll admit, when I first heard ... of console-sized PCs with a modified version of Steam’s Big Picture (a prelude to their own SteamOS), I was a bit confused. It seemed almost as though Alienware just wanted to be one of the first to put out a Steam Box, before the competition. And maybe that’s the case, because one could simply install Steam OS on the Alpha and be done ... More on forums.mmorpg.com

Trying to get to Console mode
A subreddit dedicated to the Alienware Alpha Mini PC. ... I just got an Alpha R2 but when I booted up the PC for the first time it booted me straight into desktop mode. The PC came with Windows 10 and I can not figure out how to get to the console mode for gaming on the PC. More on reddit.com

Is the alienware alpha worth it in 2020?
Hi, I bought my Alienware Alpha i3 back in 2015 and I haven't regretted it since. It was a nice buy because I was strapped for cash and needed a computer after my old one broke. They're nice for starting to get into PC gaming. Some things to keep in mind are that my CPU fan has failed and my HDD gave out on me, but I can't really blame it since it's been 5 years after the purchase. The pros are that it's cheap, depending on the model. The cons are that you'll need to buy separate pieces of hardware to really accelerate your alpha. I bought a new wifi card and more ram to put into my alienware. You can't upgrade the GPU in the Alienware, which is a bummer for trying to futureproof your Alienware if you're into that. Overall, it's good for a person who just wants to try to get into PC gaming with basic games like Fortnite or League of Legends. The prices are respectable for a casual PC gamer. If you have the money, I would recommend getting something else but if you're strapped for cash the Alienware isn't a bad choice. More on reddit.com

Alienware Alpha Review: Close, But No Game Console
November 24, 2014 - The Alienware Alpha sounds awesome. It’s smaller and more powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One. It doubles as an actual Windows PC! But be warned: it’s not as easy to use as a game console, not as foolproof.

Alienware Alpha review: A PC that thinks like a game console - CNET
Alienware Alpha
The bold Alienware Alpha makes good on many parts of its promise to meld the gaming PC and living room game console, but there are still too many rough edges to make this a true console killer. Born of the limbo of , Dell's Alienware Alpha is one of the most intriguing new computer releases of the year. This is despite the fact that we've had a very long time to get used to the idea of a gaming desktop that looks and feels like a living room game console. We first saw an early version of this hardware near the end of 2013, back when it was to be the first major brand name behind Valve's St

Alienware Alpha Review: A shockingly good tiny PC and console complement
Alienware's long-awaited Alpha finally arrives, but is it really the console killer or just warmed-over hardware? Hardware has a shelf life like a gallon of milk. If it sits on the store shelf too long, it ends up getting poured down the drain. That’s ultimately the ugly story behind Alienware’s Alpha game console. The Alpha was always intended to run Valve’s much hyped Steam OS, but when the alternative OS didn’t show up this summer, Alienware decided it had to ship its Steam Machine sans Steam OS before the hardware turned sour. Alienware Alpha review: almost the Steam Machine you're looking for
July 19, 2019 - My heart sank just moments after I first booted up the Alienware Alpha: I wasn't greeted with Steam Big Picture mode or even Alienware's own Alpha interface, but with the Windows 8 profile setup screen. It was shocking; the Alpha may not be an official Steam Machine (at least not yet), but it was meant to be used in the living room as a game console.

Alienware's 'Alpha' Console Lets You Play PC Games on Your TV | WIRED
August 12, 2014 - The Alpha UI looks and feels like a console, and it’s completely navigable with a game controller. As soon as you plug in a mouse, you can select a “Desktop Mode” that makes it act like a computer. Size-wise, the Alienware Alpha splits the difference between a Roku box and a current-gen game console.
