Restatement of my problem. 4-5 year old R7 desktop started to freeze this week. Only thing to do is hold power button to cut off. When powered on I’ll get the power button flashing orange 4 times, and according to Dell it means memory or RAM failure. This was a gift so I’m not too savvy. Do I need new RAM? It seems to happen if I try to do too many things at once.

Try using Windows Memory Diagnostic (program on every pc) to see if it can detect and fix any problems. If you do have to replace the ram, if you’re willing to do a little handiwork you could buy and replace the ram yourself. Dell has a service manual at https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/alienware-aurora-r7-desktop_service-manual_en-us.pdf . Just make sure that if you replace it you replace all the ram modules with the new ones (don’t mix old and new) and that you get ram compatible with your system (I think it’s ddr4)

Hey everyone.
My Aurora R9 needs some TLC I guess. I went to the Windows update center and downloaded some new updates/firmware. Needed a restart so I did that. Booted back up and came to the Alienware splash screen with the words "Please wait while we install the update" below. Waited for just a few minutes and then it shutdown. Now I got the Alienware head on the system itself blinking yellow 4 times, followed by a short pause, then blinking 4 times again. I haven't touched it yet.
What do you guys think?

You can look up the error code in the owners manual. Remove the new RAM and power on. If everything works then clearly the issue is with the new RAM. Before reseating it make absolutely sure you bought the correct DIMMs

The power button on my Aurora R8 is not working properly.
I have to press it 5-10 times for the PC to turn on.
I've checked the cables and can't see anything wrong with the power button board.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've managed to fix my power button by reverting the bios to v1.0.9 by downloading the exe from the Dell site. I also disabled "UEFI Capsule firmware updates" the first time I booted after downgrading: F2 set up Go to Security on list Go down on the UEFI Capsule firmware updates Put Disabled Save and reset. The second step is essential as it will just reinstall 1.0.17.

Same issue here. Aurora R8. It started a few days ago after a weird updating sequence where it turned itself off and on a couple times. Now the Alien head won't light up and I need to push the power button several times for it to turn the computer on. My computer does not list any updates for this week...

I just went to turn my Alienware Aurora R16 and this is what I get. What is this? I did a hard power rest where I completely turned it off and held power button for 30sec and that didn’t help.

It would REALLY help if you don't keep moving the camera away from the power light right as it's doing its diagnostic flash sequence, so that we can see what the full sequence is...

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. It was Memory or Random-Access Memory (RAM) failure. All I did was took them out and put them back in and it worked. But this is the very first time I ran into this issue. I feel like the more your machine is powerful the more issues come out. Before I had Alienware Aurora R7 with GTX1080 TI that worked perfect! Hopefully there will be no more issues. Thank you all so much for your help!

November 20, 2022 - Put your OEM Dell graphics card back in your rig, F12 into the pre-boot menu and turn off Secure Boot . . . then put your Founders Edition graphics card back in. With power disconnected; remove the CR2032 coin cell battery, push and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power, put the coin cell battery back in and try to power up.
