Hi @ronors I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing a problem similar to my M17x R4. After posting on this forum and seeking help from a few more technicians in my city, unfortunately I gave up fixing it and bought another laptop. I also tried to make all the adjustments that you did, but all the technicians I consulted said that it could be a specific motherboard problem and that it would be more advantageous to buy another machine than trying to fix it. It's a shame, because it's a very good laptop that accompanied me for 7 years and suddenly started to present this problem without demonstrating any other hardware problems. I advise you to look for specialized help in your town and, in case you don't succeed, I wish you luck in finding a new laptop.

Some technicians will reseat coin cell battery instead of replacing it with a brand new $3.00 battery. See image of coin cell battery in Service Manual: Alienware M17x R4 Owner's Manual (dell.com) Any of them try to fix it by using a USB flash drive to re flash the BIOS? Do you know what version of BIOS is on the computer? If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the search box, you should be able to see it listed by BIOS version.

March 13, 2023 - It sounds like it will most likely be the 5-beep CMOS battery error. Most other beep codes are terminal and won't allow the laptop to boot while you can bypass the CMOS beep code with a hard shutdown and restart.

June 23, 2017 - The beeps are part of a code. According to Dell's Alienware laptop beep code table, 8 beeps means an LCD problem. Did you by chance get any barf on the screen? If so, some of it could have dripped down into the crevice at the bottom of the screen and damaged it.

Reseat the RAM again? Try with one stick if both bays are populated. When working in any Dell laptops, the first thing you must do is disconnect the battery. Once resembled, it might take a long time and/or restarts, to memory learn and CMOS reset. AW are notorious for taking a scary amount of time to post after repairs.

Hey guys, need some trouble shooting help.

I currently have an Alienware Area 51 R2. I upgraded the gpu to a 1080 ti about a year or so ago. I have never have had any problems until I updated the driver (I did this through the Driver Easy application - free version). I would start to get random black outs on the screen and a few crashes. It would then beep 6 times sometimes during start up forcing me to try and restart the pc again. I would get in about the third to fourth reboot. I decided to revert back to the previous driver since I was not having any problems, but now they have started back again.

This past week I have been having to hard reset after every initial boot up of the day because the initial boot up does not display anything on screen. Now this morning I am getting the 6 beeps again and will not get past this part. I have researched it and it is all pointing to my gpu, but I was hoping maybe someone else has some weird settings or fixes I could try before I replace my 1080 ti :(

It's a gpu failure. Maybe try reseating power connections and stuff
