I have a problem with Alienware Alpha PC. It doesn't boot, just flashes yellow light 4 times (not 5). Couldn't find a solution online. So I have changed the 3V batter for CMOS to a new one. Old one had 1.5V left in it. New one has 3.32V, and yet I still have 4 flashing lights during the boot of PC. I have tried to launch it without RAM, HDD, but to no avail. Could anybody help me please?
i haven’t been used this pc in almost over an year, it worked fine before, last thing i touched on it was the ram, but i placed it back in the right spot. now when i booted up it flashes 4 times, and i also dont know which of the 3 black cables goes to the graphics card. any help is appreciated 🤘

Hey everyone.
My Aurora R9 needs some TLC I guess. I went to the Windows update center and downloaded some new updates/firmware. Needed a restart so I did that. Booted back up and came to the Alienware splash screen with the words "Please wait while we install the update" below. Waited for just a few minutes and then it shutdown. Now I got the Alienware head on the system itself blinking yellow 4 times, followed by a short pause, then blinking 4 times again. I haven't touched it yet.
What do you guys think?
Hiya all,
Any help or direction would be gratefully received.
As per title, amber light flashing four times. I turned on the PC this morning and couldn't boot. Nothing has been changed hardware wise, no updates just the 4 flashing lights.
I have completed a power drain and nominally checked the RAM is in properly, by opening the chassis and giving each stick a good push.
Any thoughts?
The ram is compatiable and I did all the steps. Please help I think I killed my pc
It's getting to the point where almost every time I turn my steam machine off, I get the 5 yellow flashing lights when I turn it back on. The only way to get it to start again is by unplugging it, holding the power button for a minute, and then leaving it unplugged for several hours. Doing a reboot instead of shutting it down doesn't trigger it.
Does anyone have a fix? This is really starting to be a drag.
Hey everyone, this is my first time owning an Alienware laptop. I’m a college student and saved up my money to get the M15-R2. I have tried searching up what the flashing lights mean but I’m not able to find anything helpful. Anything is appreciated, thanks!
THIS HAS SINCE BEEN FIXED
I am really just aggravated at how stupid I was to mess with anything.
I have had an R10 for almost a year now. 3800X with a 2080S. I bought the basic RAM. 1 TB m2 SSD. Liquid cooled. 1000w power supply.
I have been using ryzen master and ACC for overclocking but only a bit.
Last week I bought a RAM upgrade (I made sure to do a ton of research) ad successfully installed it. I changed the XMP profile in the BIOS. I ran benchmarks and used CPU-Z to confirm I had the memory running at 3200 as expected. Everything was working fine. No issues at all. Great outputs.
I had the bright idea this morning to look at utilizing the infinity fabric feature. I went in BIOS and changed the speed manually to 1600. Now the computer won't boot up. I just get the blinking yellow light twice and then once. I tried the following to reset the BIOS but not luck:
unplug the computer, remove all the ram from the system, with the computer unplugged, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then remove the CMOS battery for 10 seconds and put it back in. Leave the computer unplugged for 30 minutes. Then install original ram in the correct slots. Then plug in and power on.
I did get the computer to boot to BIOS after repeatedly restarting but then when I tried to change the memory OC to OC2 it shut down and I am back to square one.
I know manually changing the memory OC is what screwed me.
Any way I can get my machine back to running order? I have the premium support but I would rather avoid that route.
I have read a lot here about this error but most seems to be geared toward someone who can actually get in BIOS. I can't at this point as it won't start up.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I got my Steam Machine in 2017, and it wasn't until last December where I finally found the fix for the yellow light issue that's been plagging me ever since. I've looked up tons of things on it, and they were mostly temporary fixes. As the years past, it got progressively worse.
I tried:
Doing the jumper reset
Removing the CMOS battery for a period of time
Holding the power button for a "power drain"
Or any mix of the above with differing timings. Even went as far as to leave out the CMOS battery for 12 whole hours, and that was when I realised the battery was finally dying. I'd go up to 3 whole days until I could boot it up again, and a whole week in December.
The fix was replacing the CMOS battery. It uses a CR2032CL 3v. The pin of the one I bought wasn't compatible, so I had a neighbour transfer the one from the old one into the new one, and it worked out perfectly.
Had no issues ever since, and I could turn it off and it boot it normally. I used to leave it on sleep because I literally couldn't turn it off without risking a yellow light every time.
All worth it.Bought this gaming laptop about a year ago. The power button light never blinked amber light before until a few months back. I was able to make it stop by changing Power setting to Primarily AC adapter use in BIOS settings (F12 during Alienware Start Screen).
Tried to do the same thing again but this time, it no longer makes it stop.
Some people say it’s normal as it’s charging but I have doubts because it’s always at 99% battery while charging and it never uses to blink amber light before.
Any advice or insight would help - thanks!
So, about a month ago on December 13th, my computer succumbed to the infamous Flashing Yellow Light of Death and wouldn't power on at all, even after a power drain. So I had to send it in to support. I waited two weeks, got it back, and everything seemed to work fine.
3 days later, it succumbed again, and it wouldn't work after a power drain again. So I sent it in again after a very upset conversation with alienware support, 2 weeks later now I've gotten it back.
A day later, I wake up and turn my computer on to see that my computer had a yellow flashing light again, but this time the power drain worked. This is stupid, and I hate having to live in fear of the next time my computer breaks down again. What should I do, and can anyone help me?
Idek whats going on I’m lost i think its something with the tam but I’ve moved them around to check and nothing has changed its still blinking
I updated my pc and when i tried to turn it on it just flashes yellow and wont turn on. Any fix?
