My keyboard and mouse are not recognized by the computer (including the new ones). Now Monitor also shows no signal.

So I just powered my pc off by holding the power button down and now it won’t turn back on. WTF it’s like a month old.
If mine sits over a full weekend I have to unplug it and plug it back in to boot up. Maybe try that? My R11 is about 2 months old
So I also have an R11 that I have power issues with. Is there a button on the back, on your power supply? I have to hold that and then press/hold the front button to get it to turn on. I tried to reach out to Support but it is Dell. So I will just park that there. I can get mine going-- just odd I have to press 2 buttons on opposite ends of the gear.
I left my Alienware Aurora R8 on for Windows updates last night and forgot to turn it off. This morning the computer no longer turns on, even if I hold the power button for 30+ sec. I've also tried unplugging it and holding the power button to drain the leftover power, which also didn't work. Power supply test button works, if I hold it down the fans and lights come on.
Anyone know how I can fix this? The computer's only 2 years old.
Essentially the title, last night everything was dandy and working fine, so I went to bed and shut my computer down. Then when I woke up and tried to use it, it just won’t turn on anymore, I tried booting it without battery and then I tried just holding the power button down for 20 seconds. The ac adapter light on the charger is on so I know it’s not that so I’m worried it might be a bricked motherboard, which would suck because mine just got out of warranty.
So is there any solution to this problem that won’t involve buying a new computer. Or will I just have to pay a fuckton if money to send it To non warranty support and replace the motherboard or something?
Hi everyone, today whike I was using my laptop on battery It suddently flashed a Red light on the alien logo (which Is also Power Button) and shut off. Since then I can't manager to turn It on I tried to connect to AC, I tried to disconnect battery and let static electricity discharge by pressing Power Button for 15 seconds or so, nothing seems to work I've noticed that if i connect something to the USB-C of the laptop and then i open the lid (while on battery) some kind of Energy does flow to the device but still the system doesn't start No fan starts, no light starts, no sound Is produced
My support service ended a couple of moths ago and i think they would propose me to replace motherboard which Is an expense I cannot afford at the moment
Does someone had had a problem like mine?
SOLVED
I got an Alienware Area 51 R2 and I've plugged in hdmi to my monitor and plugged in my mouse and keyboard, and nothing. The mouse doesn't light up and the monitor doesn't show anything.
I try to turn on my Alienware aurora ryzen edition r14 and all that comes up is the Alienware loading screen. After that the monitor stops receiving signal from the PC. I am able to open the bios menu. What kind of problem is this?
I have an Alienware R8 that is not turning on.
Things I have tried:
-
disconnecting the power cable and holding down the power for 15-30 seconds
-
same as above but the BIST is working, the fans are moving, sometimes lights are flashing
-
trying different outlets around the house
Please help I don’t know how to fix this
I appreciate all the advice!
Hi @Jasongalley…sorry about your headache…First things first…it is not the OS, don’t even let that get into your head…the OS comes later after POST…and since the PC is not even turning on, you can never blame software for that.
Here is what you need to understand to know what is wrong…**" If I remove the battery, plug into AC, and press the power button, then the power light will come on and after a minute or 2 of sitting there in that state, it will beep a few times (sometimes once, sometimes seven, it’s very inconsistent) and start right up."****…**yeah that is normally a capacitor issue, I have fixed many to know that when a capacitor fails, you’re going to do a few false starts and waiting before it can fill up with charge enough to power on your device. Capacitor are meant to store charge but when compromised they tend to drain out all of it hence it takes time to charge it up again.
**" Sometimes it comes up with horrible resolution and sometimes it won’t recognize my WiFi card."…**that’s because there isn’t much charge during the boot process to distribute to the hardware components.
" but if I shut it down and came back the next day, it would no longer boot."… yeah, coz the capacitor(s) is already drained out of charge because its ability to hold charge has already been compromised and it is now a dud.
**“I bought a used Alienware”…**not sure how long it was used, capacitors may degrade with time…
Take your PC to the “Alien guys” and they’ll know what to do.
Cheers
Greetings all,
I bought a used Alienware a couple years ago. It’s a M17xR3, I updated RAM and put in a SSD running windows 7. Ran like a champ once I got it to finally download and install the Windows patches.
A month or 2 ago I tried turning it on and had to do a song and dance with the battery and power plug before it would start. It would restart after I got it to boot once, but if I shut it down and came back the next day, it would no longer boot. It won’t even get to the bios screen when it does this. The power light comes on and that’s it. If I remove the battery, plug into AC, and press the power button, then the power light will come on and after a minute or 2 of sitting there in that state, it will beep a few times (sometimes once, sometimes seven, it’s very inconsistent) and start right up. Sometimes it comes up with horrible resolution and sometimes it won’t recognize my wifi card. After that, I reboot and everything runs normally. I’ve ran the pre-boot Dell checks and it has never failed anything.
Another issue I’ve had since i got the PC is if I try to access the performance menu in bios, it will lock up and need to be restarted.
Beyond those issues, the thing runs great. I’ve fixed some weird stuff in the past, but I can’t think of anything to really solve this besides maybe the CMOS battery, but anytime that has failed in the past on any computers I’ve worked on, the clock has stopped functioning properly between boots. This has never had such an issue.
Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated.
