Thanks for your reply! Last night I decided to unplug the ac adapters (Area 51 has two of them) and let the battery die. I can’t say for sure what exactly happened but an hour or two later in desperation I tried holding the power button down for two minutes straight… I had done this before several times… still no effect… but then about one minute after I had stopped holding the power button down it shut down on its own. Not sure what did it… maybe finally ran out of battery? I plugged it back in and booted again and it took me to a screen with the Alienware logo at the top saying 'battery has been disable' (yes it actually did say 'disable' instead of 'disabled') and then something about the battery being overheated. From this portal I was able to run a system scan and it found no problems. I restarted again this time tapping F2 and confirmed that battery and ac adapter were functioning properly… then rebooted and it came up with a screen saying it was finishing windows update… after that it booted normally and seems fully functional. Not sure exactly what fixed it but my best guess is battery finally died… I hope this helps someone who might finds themselves in the same situation. JD

Hi @Johnny Dixon , I got you so its no problem. I had the same issue when my dads AREA 51M was doing a BIOS Update and he closed the lid during it and that must've corrupted something because it wasn't turning off. I spent 2 hours diagnosing and fixing it to come out with the solution: unscrew all the screws attaching the laptops bottom panel where the fan is and use a suction cup to pull it out gently. Then even though the laptop IS on still unplug the battery connector from the motherboard. DONT REMOVE THE BATTERY, just unplug it. Then the laptop should shut off and then you need to hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then hold CTRL+ ESC while your plugging the battery back in and the laptop should boot!

Is anyone else having issues with windows 11 not updating. I have not had any issues with windows 11 on my M16 R1 until the last 2 weeks.

System update says: "your version of windows has reached the end of service". I cant get any newer version of windows on here.

Computer will work fine for 5-15 mins some times and then blue screen and restart. Sometimes it works fine if its left plugged in. I appreciate any ideas in advance!!!!

Specs:

CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700HX

GPU: 4070

Ram: 16gigs

Did you apply any of the micro-code updates from Dell for your Intel 13th Gen processor?

As the above user said, first update microcode for cpu . You need to update bios for that, which will also bring the latest microcode update. It will probably solve the bluescreen issue. With the issue of windows not updating, you can download latest win 11 iso from microsoft, double click on it and then run the setup from desktop. This will initiate in place upgrade to latest windows while preserving all your current data.

I'm becoming convinced this is a larger Dell problem, because Support Assist is not able to find updates for my drivers from either the app on my Alienware laptop or from the website. Both worked fine in June (as did the Alienware Command Center at the time). The ACC stopped working correctly on my computer in the last couple of weeks, and while I've tried repairing, resetting and uninstalling/reinstalling (with both the MS store and the Dell download), I get the same error about the wizard being interrupted.

Hey guys, I'm having this problem with my PC. Everytime I try to turn it on, it takes me to a blue screen saying that the PC did not restart correctly. I press "restarted anyway" And it takes me to a black screen which is supposed to be loading. However it doesn't. I tried turning it off then back on but nothing is working. It's been doing this for 5 hrs and I need my computer to work soon. Anybody know how to fix this? Thank you.

When attempting to update Windows 11 to version 24H2

Install error - 0x80240035 appears.

The download takes a long time; the install gets to 100% and then produces the error.

I reset my entire system and reinstalled Windows and this is still occurring.

Not sure it's an Alienware issue per se but I'm on an Aurora R15.

Other Windows updates download and install without issue.

I've tried a few solutions I found on YouTube and none of them work.

Anyone have this happen?

Have you tried downloading directly off windows website? I believe they've got a tool somewhere to check your computers compatibility as well. If you're using an r15 that shouldn't be a problem (i've got windows 11 on my r10) but it could tell you what upgrades would be needed if that were the case. Try this link. Download Windows 11
