Can I recover files from an Alienware laptop that won't boot?
You might recover your data by using recovery media, another computer, or dedicated recovery software (such as MiniTool Power Data Recovery) before fixing Windows.
My Alienware power button is blinking amber and blue—what do the flashing codes mean?
2 Amber, 1 Blue: Motherboard failure.
2 Amber, 2 Blue: BIOS/ROM failure.
2 Amber, 3 Blue: No Memory (RAM) detected.
2 Amber, 4 Blue: Memory failure.
2 Amber, 7 Blue: LCD failure.
3 Amber, X Blue: Usually points to an Embedded Controller (EC) or Power Rail failure.
How long should the Dell logo screen remain visible?
This happened to me last year and I don’t know how to fix it. I sent it to a dell workshop far from where I live and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Please do comment down below quick cause this is also my work pc for college.
Hi all, had a search through this sub-reddit, and i've seen some related issues, but nothing about it happening occasionally.
Let me preface by saying im not the most tech savvy person, so i've used the wrong term, or something similar below, apologies.
I have an Alienware 17 laptop. Its had a new battery, SSD (possibly refurbished?) and has been upgraded to Win10 in its lifetime
So when booting it up, it shows the Alienware logo boot screen and the red 'loading' bar. That fills and it goes to the Windows logo.
Occasionally, the loading bar will fill up, but it will not transition to the Windows screen. I cannot access the Bios or Boot settings menus using F2 or F12 either.
When it does this, it will continue doing this for a couple of restarts until it will eventually boot up as normal again. i'm usually doing so whilst trying a combination of having the cable plugged in / removed & holding in the power button for 30 seconds when powering it on and off as i've seen various people describe similar issues online and have stated this may help, but i have no idea if it is of any benefit really, or its just coincidental is powering back on.
Once it powers on, it seems to restart / shut down and boot up fine for a while and theres no problems when actually using the laptop. The issue seems more likely to re-occur when it haven used it for a while.
Finally, i've run the diagnostics via F12, and no errors were generated.
Any advice would be appreciated. Due to its age (manufacured in 2014), its well out of warranty, and i'm a but skeptical that Dell Support can really help when the issue so occasional.
My 17R4 used to do this very very rarely. Same symptoms, it would load the bar and just get stuck. The only way past it was to power it off with the power button and then power it back on which then it would load properly. The main difference being mine wouldn't do it more then once. Once I power cycled it, it would load up no problem, I didn't have it repeat the failed load again for weeks.
I never found out why it was happening, but it did seem to do it more with Performance mode disabled for some reason. Actually come to think of it...it's been awhile since I have seen it, so maybe they worked it out in a BIOS update....
Sorry to revive an old thread, but my Alienware 17r4 is having the exact same issue. Did you ever solve it?
Hi everyone,
I’m using an Alienware Aurora 16 and my system is stuck on the Alienware boot logo.
Last night I was listening to music and fell asleep, and the PC stayed ON for around 12 hours. This morning, it wouldn’t boot past the logo.
I’ve tried restarting but it keeps freezing on the boot screen. Keyboard and mouse don’t seem to respond once the logo appears.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
What steps should I try to fix it (BIOS reset, power drain, recovery, etc.)?
Any help would be really appreciated.
I am clicking on the caps lock and the light is not turning on
Hello there,
My cousin has an older Alienware computer that would not boot to Windows. It would get stuck on the Windows logo screen with the spinning dots. I downloaded the windows 10 media creation tool on a USB and boot it to advance settings. I suspected a Windows 10 update was issue. I was able to do a system restore and it booted up just fine.
This computer is extremely slow, btw. I was looking in ways to increase the computer’s performance. I think some of the sluggishness is due to the age and the fact that it’s not using an SSD for the Hard drive.
The next day I went to work on it, back to the spinning circle. I tried to perform another system restore, try rolling back Windows updates which did not work. My last resort was going to reset the pc, but that option isn’t available anymore.
Any suggestions on what I should try next?
Did you do a diskscan on the drive? It could be possible the drive is failing.
