Dell/Alienware Update Windows Universal Application
Alienware Update and SupportAssist no longer working.
Alienware Update getting disabled from time to time...and some other small annoyances.

The only Dell bloatware I accept to have on my laptop is AWCC, I've made sure there's nothing else through a clean install of Windows. But I noticed this two days ago when I was checking if Dell released any new drivers. Do any you guys/girls use this? Is it useful to keeping system stability or just an unnecessary extra/bloatware? Thanks for your feedback!
Alienware M15 R4 - Over the last few days, I’ve had issues with Alienware Update and Support Assist.
I am now getting this error with Alienware Update:

Basically, it will not perform a scan. The only changes I’ve done were the Windows 11 March update a few days back and the upgrade to the 1.16.2 BIOS update. I have tried reverting it back to the 1.15 BIOS, but it still does the same thing.
Also, SupportAssist no longer works. When I try to run any of the options (driver update, hardware check, clean files, etc), it kicks back an error basically saying it can’t continue because another process is running. This has been going on longer than the Alienware Update issue, which only seemed to start today.
I have also fully uninstalled both programs using Revo Uninstaller Pro AND even deleted all leftover files. I have since re-installed Alienware Update and it still does it. I have not yet re-installed Support Assist. Figured if the Alienware Update wasn’t fixed, then neither would Support Assist. 🤷♂️
Alienware Update runs on my R13 Desktop just fine. So I know it’s not a server issue or anything…both systems are on V 4.8.0.
Thanks in advance for any help on this!
So, I've had my new R13 Desktop PC since near the end of Feb 2022 (12th Gen i7-12700KF, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3080, 750W PSU, Cryotek Liquid Cooling, Windows 11 - 21H2) and this has happened twice, so far. It's an easy fix, but it's ANNOYING when it happens.
What happens is, my Alienware Update program will not launch. At all. I get a message when attempting that says I need to "enable Dell Client Management". It's actually under Alienware Client Management and it seems to get disabled from time to time. I have to manually go into "Services" in Windows, then change it back to (Automatic, Delayed Start) before I can use it.
So, I'm posting here to see if anyone knows WHY this happens? I noticed when I woke my PC from sleep just a bit ago, Windows Update was downloading and installing "Alienware - SoftwareComponent - 1.1.51.0". As Alienware Update was working fine until today, my best guess is that this Windows update had something to do with disabling it (and is probably what happened the first time, as well)? Any idea what this Windows update does, anyway?
Also, a side question: For some reason the Alienware Update program that came with my system, in the list of Drivers & Software over on Dell Support (under my Service Tag), are from 6/4/2021, version 4.2.1. Now, my Alienware M15R4 laptop is at version 4.5.0 and it's always auto-updated itself. My R13 Desktop has...not (since it pulls from the Dell Support list and this software is nearing a year old now). I see version 4.2.1 is only compatible for Windows 10 and under, where the 4.5.0 version is Windows 11 compatible. So, logically, I removed the old one and found and installed 4.5.0 on my R13. Is that O.K. or is there a specific REASON why 4.5.0 is not "available" for my R13 on the Support site? My best guess is just poor management of optional software updates?
As an observation, I have noticed that Alienware Update on my M15R4 laptop works MUCH better than the one on my R13 Desktop. When I update on the desktop, sometimes it'll find an update and it'll fail. Then it'll never detect that update again - I have to go to the Dell Support site and manually download and update the driver from there.
Thanks, everyone and have a great day!
