I've come across an issue here with functional storage, specifically storage drawers and the compacting drawer. When I was able to make my first cobble gen it was working fine, until i went to shift + left click to pull a stack out. It wouldn't pull anything out at first which I found to be odd. Whenever I added a secondary stand alone drawer for the flint from the sieve it did the same thing.
Now if I alternate between the two it works just fine, but then my inventory is full of useless flint lol. Has anyone else come across this, or if they have is there a fix to it?

When I open my grid in any other dimension it shows it to me but doesn't let me interact with it I have the dimension card and the infinite range card
entering late game on ATM9 and just wondering about storage. i’ve been using refined storage this whole time and it’s working fine but one of the people i play with wants to try and switch to AE2 (emphasis on wants, it’s a nightmare to learn and he’s been struggling). i’m just wondering if there’s any real benefit to AE2 over refined storage. i already have auto crafters that work well and infinite storage parts. any thoughts or differences in performance i should take into consideration?
Yes and no. I know bad answer.
RS and AE2 have gotten extremely similar in the 1.20.0+ versions. If you have a good RS system set up you likely won't need to switch to ae2.
AE2's upsides is the better autocrafting which can be done on the spot or all from a centralized location. It tends to to better in regards to crafts that require NBT data. This is just because RS has some issues just reading it, like the ore hammer, I've ended up with more partly used hammers using it than ae2.
It generally works better in storing the information so it's less likely to start lagging your game if it either gets too full or has too many items. On that same note it has been an issue for some people that RS has caused world corruptions. Though I don't know if that's fixed or not, or even what would cause it.
I personally think the wireless system of AE2 is better that RS but others mat disagree.
And I do understand your friends issues issues with learning ae2, I still have zero understanding how the fuck p2p works and I've been using it for years.
The biggest thing is automate these key items: The main processors, dense smart cable, basic fluix cables, import/export buses, and patterns.
Don't worry about MEGA just go up to 64k to learn, then go past. AE2things drives are basically RS drives anyway.
The quest books way of teaching autocrafting is fine but it does need more fleshing out. In atm9 there is an in-game guidebook that you can check by looking at items. That's your bread and butter.
No, there is no real reasonable benefit over RS. It would be a different story if you were just starting and need a storage choice, but when you already have a running RS system, it’s not worth it. The only real benefits I could think of that ae2 has anyways are:
Better nbt handling: prime example being the master infusion crystal, which always confuses the RS system.
Better autocrafting: the blocking mode of the pattern providers makes it so that you can finally use the Powah energizing orb without redstone blocking.
Spatial IO: this one is debatable as it’s not really that huge of a feature, still something nice. I never used it tho.
That’s probably everything. At least everything I can think of right now, maybe there’s more. A bonus point would be, that ae2 feels more fleshed out. In RS you just slap down everything and connect it with transmitters or cable. In ae2 you have to plan things out and think about what to place and connect to.
I have a lot of time in the modpack and the diamond chests just aren't cutting it anymore.
What are the best options for storage?
Applied energistics is really good
Mekanism has a good storage system as well. You can literally hold hundreds of millions of items. The only bad part is that it doesn’t have a built-in crafting bench. In my opinion, the importing/exporting is MUCH easier than refined storage. I cannot comment on applied energistics, as I’ve never dabbled in it.
I don't play a lot of modpacks, but the only storage solution I have experience with is Storage Drawers, and I wanted to try something else. Are there any other "complete" storage solutions in this pack?
You have RFTools, EnderIO, Correlated Potentialistics, Refined Storage.
As mentioned, Refined Storage and Correlated Potentialistics are AE-like computer-based storage.
RFTools adds its own upgradeable storage blocks that can be accessed remotely with the appropriate upgrades/blocks. It's powered by RF and can access chests and other inventories as well, but doesn't require any pipes/conduits to connect inventories, which is handy.
Similarly, EnderIO adds inventory panels and remote panels that function similarly to RFTools', but relies on conduits with remote awareness upgrades and the panels are powered by nutrient distillation rather than RF. It also doesn't add its own storage blocks, so you'll need to use other mods' blocks or chests. It works with the RFTools storage blocks, storage drawers, iron chests, etc.
Refined Storage looks pretty cool. I'm going to give it a try.
