As soon as you get a statement, you should be able to make a payment that goes toward that statement? I would not be happy. Hey, I just thought of something. Don't select to apply it to future payments, or you'll pay interest charges. Principle is what you originally financed and you want to lower as much as that as possible. In the end you'll pay your loan faster and save interest. Interest accrues on a "daily basis" so thats why you don't want it applied to future payments. The interest will still continue. Also you have to pay extra on the FIRST day you get the new statement - why? Because interest accrues daily and your principal only payment will be less. Learned the hard way! More on reddit.com

For instance, I don't have online installment loans, from Ally or anyone else. My installment loans are local. So I'm not talking about my problems in making payments. It seems that when you make an extra payment, they charge interest on it, but I don't understand how much and how that's calculated? However much has accrued since the last payment. Say your interest rate is 10%. If you make an extra payment 10 days after your last payment, you'd pay (10% * (10/365) * loan balance) in interest. Is anyone having issues with making early car payments? Ever since the app update, I’ve been having trouble with Ally. My car payments are due at the end of the month, but I always pay early (at the middle of the month) and always paying more so some goes to interest. Once I login, it tells me how much I owe. However, once im about to pay, it says payment due is $0.00. Called CS and they said you can’t pay early, only the day of. If I pay early, it goes to the interest only and doesn’t pay for April’s statement. Is this happening to anyone else? I’ve always been able to pay my dues early as soon as I receive that month’s statement.

It's been like this for a while now on the website, not sure about the app, but you'll have to wait until they post the bill for it to show a balance due. Once they post the bill it'll allow you to schedule the payment properly.

I am trying to make more payments towards my principal with ally banking and they said to just increase the amount I pay monthly and it will automatically go towards the principal. I got this info from their FAQs. Has anyone done it with them? And is it true that it will be applied towards the principal?

I don't have experience with Ally payments. But it sounds like this is a situation where if you don't see an separate field for paying to principal only, you're just going to have to test it to see if it works. I would just put a small-ish extra amount there (maybe $50-$100 or so), and see how it's applied.

just coming here to state again, that ally sucks and the company is filled with a bunch of scam artists.

frankly, i'm grateful to see that i'm not the only person still going through this issue. I'm annoyed as ufck cuz for some reason i can't see my financial information or make payments on the app or the website. every time i call i get the run around until i finally get to the escalations team who...has escalated my issue a good 5 times with zero resolution to the issue. i'm concerned as ufck that this issue isn't being talked about more widely. it's weird as hell to suffer the threat of negative reporting to credit bureaus, while simultaneously not having access to MY financial information and being able to pay for the better part of the last year. i hate ally, i really really hope they tank. and more so, i NEED to figure out how to get from out of contract with them.
