is anyone else having issues with logging into their account today? I’m trying to log in on the app and on my laptop and it says my username and password is not valid….
EDIT: OKAY i’m relieved/not relieved that i’m not the only one!!! i’ve only had Ally for under a year so didn’t know this was common lol 🥲

yes... I just tried to transfer money from my "splurge" savings account to my checking to cover dinner for an early Valentine's Day. We got to the restaurant and everything and had to leave after we ordered an appetizer. I usually keep $1500 or so in my checking, but some extra expenses went through this month. I completely forgot about it until we sat down to eat :(

OP here.. Problem solved! FYI.. So I called Tech Support. 1st level TS couldn't help. Between myself and 2nd level TS we figured it was a new VPN that I installed recently. I quit the VPN and got in to Ally with no problems. All other sites (Vanguard, Fido, etc) have no issues with the VPN.

I am not having this issue with Ally. ... I have just encountered the same problem. While using my VPN, the login fields (username and pw) don't even appear on the screen. I really hate when institutions, in their technological ignorance, try to undermine my online security. I will have to reconsider my continued use of Ally Bank...

April 6, 2013 - Turns out Ally.com / Ally bank, has a problem with DYNAMIC IP addresses; apparently with Mac/Apple computers. I don't know about Windows computers. Every time your dynamic ip address changes, ally.com thinks you are a new person, hence you have to login again.

When I use the app, it says "Wrong app, head over to the ally moblie app to login," but I'm in the Ally mobile app.
Logging in online won't work - they use 2-factor autentication but I never get the code on my phone. No option to send to email
Customer service takes too long to answer - It took 30 minutes to get ahold of someone
When I was able to log in on the app (after several tries) - I chatted with the rep but it took about 30 minutes for him to respond
When I asked him to change the number for the 2-factor authentication, he did. But when I log in online, it's still saying that it is sending the code to the old number.
Why is it so hard to work with this bank?

I finally talked to a rep. The company is trying to merge banking and auto so a lot of people are getting affected.

I always use secure.ally.com I don't know if that will help you or not. Also, I never use apps for banking. I always use the websites for all my banks. I don't know if that will help you or not.

Yep had to clear my cache. Likely an update or something may have disabled it. Resolved.

January 3, 2025 - Ally Bank has been recognizing and downloading accounts fine for a few years. I had to change my password recently, and started receiving errors. I tried resetting the online update and it showed all of the accounts but said they could not be added to Quicken.
