Hi, I have a pretty basic question. I'm building a new website and plan on featuring several Amazon Affiliate links to products that I mention.
I have not signed up to join the Amazon Affiliates program yet, but my understanding is that you have to supply a website URL in the application so Amazon can review your site and proposed affiliate links before approving your application. (assuming that's correct, please let me know if it's not).
My question is: I'm still building my site and it is not live yet. I do have it on a password-protected staging site, however. Is it more common for the process to be that I launch the site with Amazon Affiliate links already populated throughout the site, and hope Amazon approves the site? Or is it more common to provide the reviewer a password to access the staging site, and they'd review and approve the application before the site goes live?
Apologies if I'm missing something basic about the way the program works.

apply once you have a website that can be viewed by the public. At this point you wont have any content with affiliate links. From what i remember, I believe when you first apply it is sort of automated approval, assuming you give them all the info they ask and all the tax info and website info etc. Once to go through this, you will get access to the affiliate area of amazon and can create your own links. that is when you can start to add links to buy stuff on amazon. You still are not yet fully approved tho, and still cant get live pricing and api access and other features. you must now generate 3 sales within 180 days. once you get these three sales, you will then have a full review before they approve you. i think it usually takes place within 3 business days of getting your third sale. or at least thats the rumor. some people claim different time frames. if you get fully approved, then you are good to go. if not, they will deny you, and tell you why. not sure how re-applying works, as i have never run in to this situation where i wasn't approved.

I see several comments that have probably already addressed your question. But also I wanted to add my 2 cents about vertical videos. Vertical videos are the new king of marketing as everyone is on mobile, and growing. Also I use SMS much more - have been using call loop . With call loop, you can subscribe to a key word, and as long as you are subscribed, that key word of phrase is yours only. Then you can advertise for people to "text xyz" to your number.
