r/FulfillmentByAmazon on Reddit: Is Amazon Business worth it? Do companies often use Amazon Business for B2B purchases?
July 31, 2019 -
When I say Amazon Business, i am referring to this program:
https://services.amazon.com/amazon-business.html
Do any sellers here make good money selling cases quantities to businesses (instead of individual customers) or Amazon? Or do the discounts that businesses ask for cut too much into ROI?
There seem to be many products that are not profitable selling individually on Amazon, but selling 30 to 100 of them in a case might make more sense. Do products sold via Amazon Business have a separate sales rank metric that is distinct from the Amazon BSR.
Is Amazon Business something that is best managed separately from B2C Amazon purchases?
Thank you.

About 15% of our business is B2B. Basically same listings as everything else, very rarely do we offer discounts beyond 5-10% off normal price. Those discounts are only for bulk purchases (multiple cases). We've found we can offer a better price with higher margins shipping in bulk due to lower fulfilment cost per unit. Plus returns aren't as frequent as B2C. That being said, success in Amazon B2B boils down to product offering. Sell stuff that businesses buy on a regular basis and you'll do ok with it. Think categories like industrial & scientific or office & supplies.

Amazon business is pointless until Amazon lowers their fees, and creates a program that has the buyer pay shipping. We are a wholesaler, as well as selling on the normal online sites, and if we were able to have a online markup” to business customers, without having to total in shipping, businesses would get a much much much better deal. This program also needs to be MF pushed, and still show the prime badge, even thought there’s a shipping charge. Amazon gets tremendous rates. Why can’t they just charge buyers on the back end? Amazon business would absolutely thrive MF/SFP mostly, unless the FBA fee structure changes 5-7% fee Buyer pays shipping which allows the seller to set the price at the exact margin they want. Prime Badge on all listings so customers know it still ships fast. Amazon becomes the biggest wholesaler in the world Easy
