Question about baby registries (Amazon)..
but I believe it’s a completion discount, which means you only get the discount if you purchase every single item off your registry, is that right? So No, that's not how completion discounts work. It's a discount so you CAN complete the registry, not a discount for purchasing everything off it. You could have zero items purchased off your registry and still get the discount. You can put your due date as whatever you want, to get the discount early. Amazon isn't asking for proof of due date. You can put your due date as tomorrow if you wanted, and get the discount ASAP. Or you can just leave it and use it later. They don't take it away. More on reddit.com

Do not recommend the Amazon Baby Registry
I hate Amazon. The final straw was when they started shipping empty packages and charging our card. If you complain, they reship and charge you AGAIN. That is on top of all of the dangerous counterfeit items. It’s a scam of cheap, toxic junk. The reviews are mostly bots too. More on reddit.com

Must haves on Amazon Baby Registry [AB]
There are so many things! My advice would be to choose a good selection across various price points. Some people like buying multiple items to create a little gift basket (think all of the bath supplies so infant bath seat + some toys, bath wash, wash cloths, etc). Others prefer to buy a single larger item or 1-2 mid-size items. Also keep in mind you can get the 20% completion discount for items on that are still on your registry after the completion date, so if you want to purchase your own stroller for example you can add it there and mark it as “private” and then buy it using the 20% off discount. As for some ideas: baby bathtub (the Angelcare one is popular) + bath wash, wash cloths, lotion armpit thermometer (NOT a digital read forehead one, they are not accurate), nasal aspirator (I personally like the Hydrasense one better than FridaMom) + saline drops, gripe water or Kolik drops, vitamin D drops, diaper ointment (Sudocream or Desitin are my preferred brands but Penaten and others are fine) and the FridaMom “Windi” gas relief things. They are so helpful when your little one can’t pass gas and they have gain pains. We used them a lot. Diaper bag, fold-up waterproof changing mat, travel size diaper cream and hand sanitizer, etc. Bottles, pacifiers, etc if you plan on using them Diaper pail, crib/bassinet sheets, waterproof mattress cover for crib, other nursery things like a small dim lamp for night changes (I have the egg light but there are tons of options), wipe dispenser or wipe warmer, sound machine, cool mist humidifier, etc. Nursing supplies if you plan on BFing like a nursing pillow (I preferred the My Brest Friend pillow more than the Boppy when my babe was tiny because it’s way more supportive and straps around your waist so it’s very secure and doesn’t slide around), nipple ointment, silverettes, nursing bra/nursing tank tops, milk storage bags, Haaka, nursing cover if you feel you will want that, etc. Postpartum supplies (I personally kept these items private and bought them myself… Tucks pads, Frida Mom peri bottle, disposable underwear, ice packs) Sleep sack or swaddle, car seat cover for the winter, any sort of stroller accessories you might want like a footmuff, rain cover, etc. You will 100% be given several blankets so I wouldn’t register for blankets. some kind of play mat, high contrast cards and some first toys to do tummy time. Try to get things that are high contrast (black & white, white & red, etc) because these will be easiest for your newborn to see for a while. the big ticket items like crib and mattress. glider/rocker, pack & play, bottle sterilizer, stroller & car seat, etc. (plan to use your 20% discount on these items if they don’t get purchased for you!!) I would also highly recommend you pick up a few items at your local store before baby arrives to have on hand: infant Tylenol: it’s not recommended to give to babies under 3 months HOWEVER, in the event that your newborn spikes a fever you may be advised to give Tylenol before heading to the hospital since fevers are emergencies for newborns. Having it on hand is just one of those things that you hope you won’t need but good to have in case. Same goes for the infant thermometer. If you do not get one from your registry, please buy one before baby arrives. ready to feed formula: even if your goal is to breastfeed, there can be circumstances beyond your control that might require formula. In my case, I had a c-section and my milk was very slow to come in so I had to supplement with formula. It wasn’t part of my plan but it’s just what ended up being what I had to do. Newborns shouldn’t have powdered formula because of the (small) risk of bacteria once the can is opened and the powder is no longer sterile. Ready-to-feed comes in small bottles (60ml) that can be given directly to baby using either a screw-on nipple or you can just pour what you need to give into a bottle and refrigerate the rest for 24H to use for the next feeding. Again; handy to have just in case and if you don’t need it you can just return the unopened package to the store. More on reddit.com

Amazon baby registry question

I am looking at using Amazon for a registry (but open to other options! Also considering Babylist and Myregistry) and just have a couple wonderings..
Amazon touts a 15% discount up to $2000 for Prime members, but I believe it’s a completion discount, which means you only get the discount if you purchase every single item off your registry, is that right? So if I only get half the stuff on my registry gifted, I need to buy all the remaining items on my own from Amazon in order to get the discount, correct? Does that include having to buy items that don’t themselves qualify for the discount in order to get the discount on anything?
Ahh and it says you are eligible for the completion discount UNTIL 60 before due date? So I can’t get the discount after baby comes? Should I/can I change the due date to a few months later?
Is there anyway for people to contribute cash gifts (I don’t think so on Amazon, but I think yes on the other two?)
I saw both that about 60% of your registry has to be purchased to receive the gift basket, and also that only $25 has to be spent on your registry for the gift box - which is true?
If people purchase gifts from other stores using the universal registry feature, or buy/gift second hand items, how do they mark the items off on the registry?
Any other thoughts/recommendations about registries? Thank you in advance for your insights!
