You can't actually get through to a human. If you request a phone call you have to interact with an automated bot (with the TTS Brian voice). If you request a chat on the website you also just interact with a bot. My item was supposedly handed to a resident but it wasn't. Literally no way to speak to a human about it, I just get trapped in a loop of bot interactions. More on reddit.com

TD fired a ton of their experienced internal guys and hired fresh dudes. This apparently happened roughly around the time I was renewing my mortgage a couple years back. We tried to switch to them for low rates, and they completely fumbled the whole thing - documents not submitted, no communication, no idea what they were doing.

Heard from someone within that they took an axe to all the mortgage people with experience, and that now most of the handlers were junior guys that didn't know anything.

This disease might have spread to non-mortgage departments since then. It's probably some fuckin' executive's clever bonus scheme. "Let's get rid of all the expensive (read: good) people. Then we'll show short term cost improvements and I'll get a fat bonus".
