I've been doing FBA for 6-7 years now. I started at 100% FBA vs. FBM. I do primarily thrift/garage sale pickups and retail arb. I had a cash cow brand (was buying at full price from just about any retailer that carried the brand and selling FBA for 10x about 1000 units a year) about 3 years and Amazon regulated the shit out of it. They started asking for paperwork that was impossible for me to produce. Now I'm about 30% FBA / 70% FBM. I know that a new seller account is going to struggle on Amazon in general due to gating. Most brands and categories are gated now. Due to my sales history, 9 times out of 10 if I run into a locked brand, it auto approves me so i can sell most brands. It still amazes me how much more some people buy things for when it's got the prime tag on it. TL;DR: It's worth it for me but I can't imagine it being worth it for a fresh account. I always see people on YouTube and tiktok hyping up Amazon FBA like it’s a groundbreaking, life changing thing. Is it really as good as they say? I feel like they’re just hyping it up to sell a course or something.

They might well be selling something. And you don't need a course to figure out FBA. Amazon has pretty darn good support materials. OTOH, A while back I did a 1-year contract gig to get an online nutriceuticals company off the ground and FBA really was 'all that' for us. We had the stuff manufactured, they sent it to Amazon warehouse... commence selling: no worries about inventory / shipping / etc.
