Hello,
I'm new to Regata (not to Linux) and I'm fairly impressed. I have installed Epic, GOG and so on thanks to the Game Access-App. But there is no client for Amazon Games. Is there a way to install this client?
Thank you!
I’ve noticed that Prime is giving away a lot of games through their launcher, so I’m wondering if it’s worth downloading it.
I have been an Amazon Prime member for about 2 years and requested a lot of things that Prime Gaming gave me, I have accumulated a lot of games in my Amazon Games library but there is no feature such as adding favorites and grouping. I also do not see any information showing whether the given games include DLC content if any, there is no information section on the games page that shows values such as storage requirements, which should be standard. I was using Amazon Games integration in GOG Galaxy but sometimes it gives an error, it is not enough for me.
Quick guide to install Amazon games on the steam deck
Go to desktop mode 2)From your browser download the Amazon games launcher from the official webpage https://www.amazongames.com/en-us/support/prime-gaming/articles/download-and-install-the-amazon-games-app
Go to the Discover app and search for ProtonUp-Qt and install it.
In ProtonUp-Qt select add version, in compatibility tool select GE-Proton and select the latest (currently I'm using GE-Proton7-53) and press install.
when GE Proton has finished installing, open steam, on the bottom left press add game, and add non-steam game, select browse, and select the Amazon launcher you previously downloaded and finally press add selected programs 6)go to you steam library and select Amazon games setup, right click on it and press properties, in the compatibility tab select the version of GE-Proton you previously downloaded. If it is not showing, exit steam and open it again.
open the Amazon installer line a normal game and let it install
To check where the launcher got installed, when it finishes installing, open dolphin (the file manager), on the sandwich menu at the top right enable show hidden files, then go to home/deck/.local/share/Steam/compatdata And search for the file with the latest date, that should be the folder with Amazon games on it Open the Forder you suspect it has the lancher and go to pxf/driver_c/users/steam user/AppData/Local/Amazon Games/App/Amazon Games.exe
Go again to steam and add another non steam game, this time locate and select the Amazon Games.exe we found in the last step. Same as before when you add it to your library , go to properties and select the version of GE proton you installed.
delete from steam Amazon games setup, this won't delete the folder with Amazon games
launch and enjoy
I don't know about the rest, but when I tried to do the same but with normal proton Amazon games would crash after 30 seconds
Those who are Prime members and take advantage of Amazon Games free games they offer once in a while; and have noticed that it crashes under Wine and Lutris, I have a work around for ya to be able to play your games!

Install Amazon Game Launcher in Lutris. NOTE: Don't log in and close the application when it pops up during the install. When Lutris is done installing launch the application and log in. Be prepared for it to crash and you have to be quick as it usually stays open for about 30 seconds. (don't know why)
-
On a Windows machine that has Amazon launcher installed install the games you want to have on your Deck
-
Copy the game folders from the Amazon game library installation folder to a USB drive (exFat or NTFS), or if you are sharing a folder on your PC to that folder for the Network share. On my machine the default location for Amazon Games installs is under C:\Program Files (x86)\Amazon games\Library
-
Copy the games from the location you chose to where Lutris installed Amazon Games. On my deck it is /home/deck/Games/amazon-games-app/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Amazon Games/
-
In Lutris choose manually add game from location and under Game Options\Executable provide the path to the exe of one of the games you copied over and under Game Options\Wine Prefix put in the path to the Amazon games app prefix Lutris created. Example: /home/deck/Games/amazon-games-ap
-
Repeat for each game
To add to Steam right click on the short cut in Lutris and choose add Steam shortcut.
While this requires a PC and some work I think it is worth it as there are some Indy gems that Amazon gives a way for free :)
Sorry to revive a long dead post: But given the relevance of topic for google search:
-
Install Lutris on the deck in desktop mode
-
In Lutris, open the hamburger menu (3 horizontal lines) > Preferences > Sources > Turn on the Amazon Games slider. Exit preferences.
-
In Lutris under Sources, you will now see Amazon Prime as an option: Use the little person link to log into your Amazon account. It will not crash, as it is not the app.
-
Your games will now appear under "Sources: Amazon Prime" in the left tab. Select a game and press install.
-
When selecting an install path, create a subfolder for each game, since it will be installing several generic folders. Each game you install will contain several matching folders and create issues.
-
The installation looks pretty weird. It is installing tons of subfiles. Just hit continue. It knows what to do.
-
-
To have games appear in your Game Mode library, either check "create Steam shortcut" during installation, or right click any game in Lutris after install and select "create Steam shortcut."
-
In this method you will not need to race a 30 second timer with a crashing app, transfer any files from a PC, and won't need to go through the non-steam game or the Proton compatibility process. I have installed a handful of games, and the controls all work as they should!

Cheers!
Ya boy, Ch0nkyK0ng
You don't need lutris if you are already installing via a windows PC. Just copy the folder over and add the exes as non steam game. Choose a proton compatibility in properties and you are done.
