r/AmazonFC on Reddit: Does Anyone Know If It's Possible To Search Amazon For An Item By FNSKU?
August 17, 2021 -

Hey everyone hope this post isn't out of bounds. I'm a reseller of Amazon clothing and my business relies on being able to find out what products I've just purchased. Searching for products by UPC #'s is very easy, but when I get a product with no UPC# and only a FNSKU it is impossible to quickly find out what item I have in my hands. Does anyone know of a database that contains a link between an items FNSKU and its page on amazon or even the item's name? I'd be willing to pay for this data!

r/AmazonSeller on Reddit: How to find the product id
August 5, 2024 -

Hello, I found a product to sell on amazon that one seller is selling and I have a slightly different product than the one on Amazon. It's a generic product with no branding. If I want to sell this product, where do I find the Product ID, and can I just get a barcode from GS1 and start selling it? Do I jus get one barcode from GS1 for 25USD and use it to sell that one particular product unlimited amounts of times? Thank you for answers.

To all participants CAUTION: ecomm forums are constantly targeted by spammers and scammers. Common ruses include the helpful-guru-scammer, use of alt accounts to decieve, and the "my friend can help" switcharoo. Do not respond to DM / PM / message requests even if it seems helpful or free. Do not click links people offer for their own services, apps, videos, etc. especially links to documents, downloads, and unclear urls. Report scam attempt private messages. Most questions are addressed by Amazon's Seller Policies and Code of Conduct , their FAQ , and their Amazon Seller University video course Subreddit FAQ topics - Beginner help / Arbitrage or Walmart / Suspended account / Fees / Product codes / Brand concerns / Freight / Guides, courses, and tutorials The sub promotion rules are strict and enforced (especially VAs, consultants, app devs, freight forwarders, and others targeting sub participants) A violation will result in a ban. DO NOT attempt to drive traffic to something of yours, otherwise promote, hype yourself, or lead generate anywhere in this sub outside the Community Promotion Post . Additionally, DO NOT ask others here to PM / DM / offline contact you Correcting common myths and misinformation Arbitrage / OA / RA - It is neither all allowed nor all disallowed on Amazon. Their policies determine what circumstances are allowable and how it has to be handled by the seller. "First sale doctrine" - This is often misunderstood and misapplied. It is not a blanket exception from Amazon policies or a license to force OA allowance in any manner desired. Arbitrage is allowable but must comply with Amazon policies. They do not want retail purchases resold on their platform (mis)represented as 'new' or their customers having issues like warranties not being honored due to original purchaser confusion. For some brands and categories, an invoice is required to qualify and a retail receipt does not comply. Receipts and invoices - A retail receipt is NOT an invoice. See this article to learn the difference . In cases where an invoice is required by Amazon, the invoice MUST meet Amazon's specific requirements. "Someone I know successfully used a receipt and...", well congratulations to them. That does not change Amazon's policies, that invoice policy enforcement is increasing, and that scenarios requiring a compliant invoice are growing. Target receipts - Some scenarios allow receipts and a Target receipt will comply. For those categories and ungating cases where an invoice is required, Target retail receipts DO NOT comply with Amazon's invoice requirements. Someone you know getting away with submitting a receipt once (or more) does not mean it's the same category or scenario as someone else, nor does it change Amazon's policies or their growing enforcement of them. Paid courses and buyer groups - In most cases, they're a scam. Avoid. Amazon's Seller University is the best place to start. This post mentions barcodes. The following is provided to ensure the most accurate info is the basis for any discussion on that topic Be aware that purchases of barcodes from parties other than GS1 (like cheap barcode websites and ebay barcode vendors) may result in listings being rejected. Amazon's statement regarding barcodes is - "If you do not have a product ID for your product, you can request it from the manufacturer. If you manufacture the product yourself, visit the GS1 standards website for more information." Amazon Product Identification | Goat Consulting
Amazon creates and assigns this number when a product is first listed on the marketplace. This is the most important tracking product identifier for communicating the product you are referencing with Amazon. Unlike SKUs, which are specific for each business, ASINs are specific to the marketplace and if there are multiple sellers of the same product, they would sell on the same ASIN. GTIN stands for “Global Trade Item Number”. This is the broad terminology used to group together the family of barcode symbologies (such as UPC and EAN) used to identify products.

What are product IDs or GTINs? | Sell on Amazon - Sell on Amazon
January 11, 2025 - Sharing product information with customers: Because each product has a unique GTIN, it’s easy for a seller to get specific details related to their product to give customers a complete view of the item they’re buying. Identifying products: This is particularly useful for products that may look the same, but have different features. A GTIN can specify which product is which, and how they differ—allowing sellers to craft more accurate product descriptions and product listings. Verifying order accuracy: Because the last number of a GTIN corresponds to a product’s packaging—for example, whether it’s one unit or part of a bulk shipment—this can help sellers and customers ensure they’re getting exactly what they ordered.
