I get to stay on payroll 90 days. Example, for calculating it with a $95k base and 2 year tenure: $95k/52 = $1826 $1826*10= $18,269 Then 95k x 1% = $950 Tenure 24 mo / 12 = 2 $950 x 2 = $1900 You get $18,269 + $1,900 = $19,219 My pivot payment was $34k, and that was with 7 yrs tenure @ $135k base; so the math checks out with the above example.

So what do y’all think of the Amazon layoffs?

I was at AWS for 6 years, starting as a Research Scientist (L4) and ending as a Sr Applied Scientist (L6). I don’t regret my time there at all — it was a great place to learn and grow. I worked on some cool stuff, met a lot of great folks, had mostly good work life balance (until I didn’t), and in the grand scheme of things was extremely well-compensated.
