r/truegaming on Reddit: Is the Amazon Luna doomed to go out the same way as the Google Stadia?
May 2, 2025 -

Basically death by lack of users, amateur marketing, and poor consumer sway. There wasn’t enough selling points for the Stadia to distinguish it from its competitors—the Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch and reception towards cloud gaming has been lukewarm at best. Most gamers are content with digital gaming, but I’m doubtful that they’d want to pay a subscription fee to stream games (that they don’t technically own) on their devices.

Though the Stadia went out with a silent sour fart, the Luna is still kicking though it isn’t nearly as popular as the competition. It’s arguably had a better run than its Google counterpart, but that’s not saying much as it’s a largely unknown peripheral within gaming spheres. The absence of a similar cloud gaming service has given it more leeway, but it still has Xbox Cloud Gaming to contend with that holds a stronger connection with the household than Amazon does with catering to gamers.

January 3, 2024 - Luna is missing something that lets players interact with others in a shared world, beyond casual couch or game night style games. One MMO would go a long way in building community and long term engagement.

r/Stadia on Reddit: I've been really enjoying Amazon Luna.
May 13, 2024 -

Recently I've returned to cloud gaming in a big way with Luna. The controller is fantastic offering both direct connect and Bluetooth.

The service itself runs flawlessly offering a crisp 1080p/60 display via your web browser. With the Luna+ and Ubisoft+ subscriptions I have a massive amount of games on hand, and I'm very happy they went with the Netflix model vs paid games. I'd always purchase games and never play them, so the Netflix model is much better for me.

Recently they announced a partnership with GOG bringing titles like Witcher & Cyberpunk along with classic retro titles. They announced in March and I'm eagerly awaiting the game drops: https://www.gog.com/blog/more-ways-to-play-your-gog-games-were-teaming-up-with-luna-cloud-streaming-service/

Give Luna a go if it's available in your region. I recommend it.

r/amazonluna on Reddit: Luna is Getting Good!
October 18, 2025 -

Luna’s gotten so good lately, I actually cancelled my GeForce Now subscription.

I’ve been aware of Luna for a while and dabbled with it here and there, but something changed recently, coincidentally right around the recent GamePass price hike (nice timing Amazon). The platform has seriously leveled up, especially with the ability to cloud stream select titles from GOG, Ubisoft, and EA that you already own. I’d love to see Epic Games join the mix next.

The growing libraries from Prime Gaming and Luna Prime are a solid bonus too.

There’s still room to grow (21:9 aspect ratio support would be a game changer!), but I’m genuinely excited to be along for the ride as Amazon continues to evolve this service.

r/Stadia on Reddit: I tried Amazon Luna and it's very close to Stadia, just has less games
January 21, 2024 -

I got a Prime free trial and eventually tried Luna out. Would've sooner but I didn't even think of it. Totally forgot it existed. I haven't played any games since Stadia shut down really.... except for Life is Strange... and I was so close to beating Control but didn't.

Now I've played Control on Luna and can say it's exactly as good once I lowered the quality to 720p it's smooth (my dl is 25mbps and upload is like 5)

My Prime trial ended so can't play it now but I think I will get a free 7 day trial of Luna+ which I believe has even more games. But for now I just want to beat Control, and 7 days should be plenty of time to do that. But I will definitely be keeping an eye on what games they have in rotation.

I guess its still in the beta stages cus I had to apply to try it out and got an email few days later saying I got it and gave me a link. There's 2 tiers: the 5.99/month and 14.99/ month. Im trying the 5.99/month plan and I get 7 days free at first so i can cancel if im not satisfied.

Obviously the cheaper tier is not gonna have all the games, actually most of the games are like the indie, Kickstarter games. Most of them were already on the Xbox Game Pass so nothing new. The only games im playing are Ys 8, Metro Exodus, and Control. So far the actual streaming is good, no hardcore lagging or anything. Im using my T-6 Helios gamepad, works well. For 6 bucks a month, its ok but i hear thats the early price, it might go up. I might keep it a month or so cus I really am digging those 3 games.

I know thr 15$ a month has all the Ubisoft games but might as well get the Xbox Game Pass for that price

r/AmazonLunaHub on Reddit: Is Amazon Luna going the way of Google Stadia?
August 28, 2023 -

I'm curious what the community thinks. Is Amazon Luna destined for the same fate as Goigle Stadia? I invested heavily into stadia when it launched as I loved the idea and ease of use. Now it seems the only options for cloud gaming going forward will be the same companies that sell consoles. At that point, I'm not sure there's any real point in that type of ecosystem.

Also, as and aside. Why does it seem like Ubisoft is the only developer that even cares about cloud gaming?

June 7, 2025 -

Hello Amazon Luna team.

I'm having a blast playing with Amazon Luna +. I used to be a hardcore gamer, but now, because of work and since I have a kid, Amazon Luna+ is great for my casual gaming. The game library is appealing, and adding games from Ubisoft and GOG is a great perk.

The best thing, however, is the streaming video quality and response I get from the games.
I hope Luna doesn't go away silently. I hope Amazon can back this product up for a couple of more years.

Thanks Luna+

I keep seeing Luna on Amazon and need to know what it is. Is it just a controller? How does it access games? Is it a monthly subscription? Pay per game? One time buy? Is it worth it? I’m not tech savvy at all, so even reading the description goes over my head. I want to get this for my dad, but not sure if he can use it. He’s also not tech savvy, but understands how to keep using it once he is shown. So please tell me everything I need to know. Any help is appreciated.

September 11, 2025 -

I'm in my 40s. I used to have Amiga 500, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 2. Haven't been paying videogames for 20 years (if you don't consider MTG Arena a videogame). Last week I subscribed to Luna and I'm loving it. Right now I'm playing mostly Hollow Knight (best game ever tried since Prince of Persia 1989 edition) and NFS Unbound. I tried Fortnite, since I know it's super famous for youngsters, but I guess it's not for me. Accepting suggestions on good games (non too complicated since I'm old and I don't have the skills I used to have when I was 16) to play, and maybe something co-op to try playing with my wife.

I just learned for the first time last night by asking Alexa on my Echo Dot three speaker that Amazon Luna is included with Amazonq now, but apparently it’s a stripped down standard edition so I want to know if someone could please provide a complete imperative list to help me understand what exactly the differences are regarding game availability between Amazon Luna standard that’s built into the prime memberships and Amazon Luna premium so I can make an educated decision as to if I should upgrade Amazon Luna premium at all to begin with please and thank you in advance!

I used to be a gamer. I let my pc grow old, haven't gotten new consoles. I used to play the likes of WoW, ESO, New World. Mostly MMOs. I got Luna for the kids and I often look through the games list and think which of these could rekindle the joys of gaming but none of them seem like something i would be into. Soooo, maybe I just need to force myself to try one. What has been everyones favorite game on Luna so far? I need one to just go for.
