How much are Amazon storage fees?
While standard size items take up less space, the configuration of the space is at times more complex than with oversized products since Amazon often uses bins or drawers to more efficiently store the products. While the rate is higher for standard-size items, oversize items are usually still more expensive overall due to the fact that the fee is calculated using the volume measurement of cubic feet. For more details, please see this page in your Seller Central account (requires login) The monthly storage fee is applied to your Seller Central account usually between the 7th and 15th day of the month, to cover the storage fees for the previous month’s business.

Amazon Long-term Storage Fees: Strategies For Sellers
April 5, 2024 - This fee only applies to inventory stored in fulfillment centers for a year or more. For example, if your inventory occupies 1,000 cubic feet and the current long-term storage fee is $6.90 per cubic foot, you would face a monthly charge of $6,900.

r/FulfillmentByAmazon on Reddit: $25k monthly storage fee from Amazon
October 8, 2023 -
We got suddenly hit with $25k "storage fee". Looking at all previous periods and we have no storage charges so can't understand why this has happened.
Have already created a case but wondering if anyone else have had this issue / recommendations on what steps to take?
Thanks

I’m currently disputing mine. It was 6x it’s normal cost. We have 4 weeks of inventory according to the dashboard and 700cubic feet on average. It was supposed to be $1600 with the new q4 prices and it was $2500 charged. It’s insane how much money they take at every turn.

It’s Q4. Storage costs increase in Oct-Dec. What’s your storage utilization. What did you pay in prior months? I saw a brand get hit similarly. They stocked up for Q4, stuffed extra for MCF, and then saw storage rates go up 3x on top of their 3x increase in space utilization.

I've been reading about some people paying 20k a month for storage fees on their inventory. How do sellers overcome this?

If you have a bunch of garbage low cost low velocity items the, yes, you don’t overcome these fees. If you have millions of $$ of live inventory then $20k isn’t so much, is it?

Storage fees have never been more than 1% of revenue, even during peak season. If you're paying a significant portion of revenue to storage fees you're doing it wrong
