Factsheet
so ive noticed lately that after i buy an item it winds up being a cheaper price within my return window option so ive started repurchasing the same item a 2nd time at a lower price and then sending it back with the original order where i paid a higher price.
my understanding is amazon hasnt done price adjustments in several years and even though its more inefficient thats what they prefer you do.
these price differenced will range from $5-10/item but it adds up quickly for our family when we order so many things we need. i regret to think how much extra $ has been spent on purchases over the years from price swings.
in the past few weeks alone im recouping about $50 in price difference.
the trouble is im manually checking the prices for fluctuations daily because you never know when they will go up or down.
ive observed the algorithm will lower the price the more you view an item to entice you to buy because it believes youre really interested and just need some motivations.
ive also noticed prices go up for an item after youve completed just a regular return. im sure the merchant or algorithm is trying to pass the cost of the return off to the next customer there.
anyway, the apps i see on the play store (im on android) seem outdated and not sure if i can trust them.
is there an updated app that works well to notify you of price swings or coupons available on the items you wish to track? ideally it would be nice to sync to your amazon account so it adds the items for notifications automatically. if not an app then a good browser extension for chrome?
some credit cards used to have a price rewind that was great for this purpose but they've all but discontinued that feature across all credit card issuers.
