Is the Amazon Prime Visa not just better than Amex Gold?
Anyone have the Amazon Business Prime AMEX?
Videos
I've had the Business Prime (5% Amazon reward) for a few years now. Have been totally happy with it. Out of the blue, in late November, I receive an email from AMEX stating that my card has been downgraded to the regular (non-Prime) Business card (3% back). When I called AMEX, they said that Amazon sends internal pings to their system when an account loses its Prime status.
Except I never lost my Prime status.
AMEX said that they have no control over this and that Amazon is the one that indicates what the status is of an account. I called multiple times and the reps were all super friendly and helpful but said that ultimately I have to get it ironed out with Amazon (despite the word PRIME being emblazoned on my Amazon home page). Calling Amazon was a nightmare...got into a shouting match with a supervisor after about an hour with someone else. They say that my account has never changed and that AMEX needs to fix it. Finally I said, let's just downgrade my account and then re-instate it, and hope it triggers a ping back to AMEX.
No dice.
So I either have to close the card and re-apply, OR, switch cards. I can go business or personal, but most of my purchases are NOT related to travel, gas, or food. I liked the 5% Amazon rewards and I liked the perks of the AMEX Business Prime card. However, I'm so pissed off I'm willing to switch cards. My annual spending is about $10k (part-time small business).
Any recommendations?
