Why don’t you want the cheap Prime deal? I got offered it because my work laptop is a Surface Book - Microsoft were giving student Prime to anyone who wanted it, basically. Free for 6 months then £3.99 until I graduate in 4 years time. I’m 40 and left Uni 18 years ago. More on reddit.com

this is not the same for everyone. you may have some special circumstances on your account. for me, ive been a prime member for years and years and years. paying full price. a few months ago my renewal was coming up -- would you believe i never knew amazon had a education discount! soooo what i did was use my .edu address and signed up direct through the amazon website and boom goes the dynamite i got the 6 months free and what 6-7 dollars a month? so i did not have to submit any documents. im based in the US. As subject. I had a prime student account previously, then finished my degree. I've just started another with the same student email address (same institution) and trying to sign up again to prime student but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this. I've searched on the customer service/help sections but it just seems impossible, and there's no way to contact amazon to find out. Thanks!

I went to sign up for normal prime and it asked me if I wanted to sign up for 6 months free and then £4.99 on the student deal. I agreed and now I have prime back. I'm not even a student and have never told Amazon that I am.

I’ve been a regular prime member for a few years, and recently went back to grad school so I’m trying to switch to Student Prime. I called customer service and they told me to cancel my membership and then sign up. I was able to cancel just fine but every time I click on a link to student prime I am redirected to regular Prime plans. I will click on “college students?” and it literally just reloads the page I was already on. If I click a link for the government assistance version of prime it takes me to a new page, but Student Prime just reloads the regular Prime page I was already on.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
