Should I buy a "Refurbished" XPS desktop on Amazon?

The main concern would be warranty cover and whether or not the machine has issues (hardware or software). The reputation of the seller would be of paramount concern: if the seller has a poor reputation, you'll probably end up regretting the purchase. If the seller has good ratings, you are (probably) OK but the warranty is still a concern.

You might want to compare against the Dell Outlet, which sells refurbished machines that are covered by a Dell warranty. The Amazon sellers probably won't offer such a warranty.

Ask yourself: what's the worst that could happen? If it does happen, "how much trouble will I have to go through to get it sorted?" If the answer is "too much" or "I'm not sure", you should re-consider the purchase. If the warranty does not cover a problem or is not honored, it's not much of a warranty, is it?
