Laptops are provided. They'll give you physical security keys to set it all up. But be prepared to be in constant contact with IT, unless they got their shit together in the last year. I had no time for a "sabbatical," and the main thing I remember is that "It's always day 1 at Amazon." Meaning, policies change suddenly and with no notice and it was always a chaotic situation that was never helpful. The people in the FCs hated the HR people, because shit was slow and guidelines kept changing; the HR people were always frustrated that folks in the FCs didn't provide the documentation they needed. Etc. It's a toxic environment. The only way someone has a generally positive experience at Amazon is if they got lucky and didn't get strapped with actually having to deal with a problem.
