Amazon resale "Like new" could not have been more of a lie
Most likely whoever check that box for resale didn't give a fk about it and just mark it as is, some people working the warehouse is hella lazy More on reddit.com

Amazon made a big change and nobody is talking about it.
They send used stuff for new purchases now so this does not surprise me Amazon will eat itself. More on reddit.com

What happened to the great deals we used to get on Amazon Warehouse? Does anyone have another good go-to website for gently used items?
I still find solid deals every now and then. Just bought a $130 pair of Nike's for $30. Got a $1500 monitor for $500 and $400 monitor for $120. I just save a search with my price range and brands that I want and check it every now and then. If there's something I want but I'm not willing to pay retail, I will use Keepa to set prices I would be willing to pay and it'll notify me whenever it gets below that price. More on reddit.com

October 15, 2025 -

Ordered a "Like new" computer case that came not only broken and missing ALL screws and connectors, but the entire side of the case was gone. The box it came in was worn and broken as well- no WAY anyone even looked at the box, let alone what was in it when they labelled that "Like new". I knew I was taking my chances, but this is really crazy. I would not buy this at a salvage yard.

Amazon Warehouse Deals USA 2025: Complete Guide To Clearance Sales & Return Deals
2 days ago - Usually, returned products end up as junk, leading to lost investments and disappeared profits. In the USA, where a significant audience favors second-hand items, the market potential is enormous. Amazon created the “Warehouse Deals a.k.a resale” program to capitalize on this market – and they succeeded brilliantly.

Update Oct 3rd: They have completely removed descriptions of item condition. It seems like they are moving away from the open box items and are focusing on second hand. This is referring to Amazon resale which is sold and shipped by Amazon.

Note: this might only be for Amazon Canada

For years I've been using Amazon warehouse/resale and gotten some amazing deals on open box items or items with damaged boxes. Every item had a description of it's condition that would open in a text box when you clicked on "details". About a week ago they removed the details of the items. You can still see the word "details" but it doesn't reveal any information. I looked online assuming people would be raging about this but there is total silence. The first time I ordered something without the details they sent me an old worn out item that looked like it had been pulled from a dumpster. So basically they can send you items of any condition because they don't have to reveal the condition before the sale.

r/Frugal on Reddit: What happened to the great deals we used to get on Amazon Warehouse? Does anyone have another good go-to website for gently used items?
April 26, 2024 -

I used to be able to get great deals on returned shoes, clothing, etc., usually for less than $25. Now, the used name-brand things are marked way up and the cheap, weird brands are in my usual price range. They also limit the number of items that I can buy now. Tried to buy four bras at a low price and they limited me to two.

Are you ready? Pretty much every retailer is now offering open-box, refurbished, pre-owned, or warehouse deals. Best Buy has an entire section on their website just hit the little hamburger menu thing on the initial page and they have an entire site. Backmarket for anything with a plug, etc. They have an app. Walmart has its own warehouse now. Patagonia pre-worn, North Face something google it, H&M, Wayfair, All major retailers search in the box, open box, refurbished, etc. Ask Google AI for a list of places where you can purchase refurbished, open box, alternatives to Amazon Warehouse, oh and on brands you like go down to the bottom of the page and hit the site menu. I have found a ton of links to these items. Goodwill has a nationwide app where you can buy from all over and I have found some wild deals. Also, look on Krazy Coupon Lady and you can search by brand, stores, and detergent deals, plus there are hundreds of articles explaining step by step where and how to save on everything you can imagine. If a certain brand has a chat rep simply ask them and they will let you know. They want you to buy the brand they don't care what $ you are paying. Burrow Furniture has an outlet and my brother got a $4,000 couch for $850. Oh, and you can screenshot an item you want hit share, and send it to Google; it will find it on sites like Thredup, eBay, online boutiques, or shops that have it, it's my go-to. When my others fail lol. You can even buy the rented equipment from Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Tools to trailers..it's wild.
