A couple months ago I noticed a random amazon withdrawal from my bank account. It wasn’t a debit card charge, they actually withdrew the money as a wire transfer. I called Amazon and they couldn’t tell me anything about the transaction and verified my Amazon account was the only Amazon account that had my routing and account #. They refused to refund me and I really didn’t have any options. I was robbed by a trillion dollar business.

This may be an old topic already. But has anyone started seeing these refund fees on their account for returns? The item just got dropped off today for return and I received this email.
I’m super frustrated right now because I received two “return fee” charges (of $25 each) to my bank account from Amazon yesterday, and Amazon can’t seem to find any record of these charges on their end. Here’s what I know so far:
- Per my bank, the fees are due to a declined payment. They stated that the only two declined payments were directly from my bank account (as opposed to a debit card) and occurred on July 2nd.
-
What happened here is that I used my bank account to pay for two Amazon orders I placed on June 30th. The order was delivered on July 1st, but my account wasn't charged until July 2nd.
-
Unfortunately, on July 2nd, my bank deducted $215 from my account due to a "shortage in currency" from an ATM transaction I made on June 18th (I was asked to estimate the amount of cash I put in due to a malfunction with the ATM, I estimated $215, and that estimation was wrong so they deducted $215 from my account) which made my account negative. I'm still disputing this incident with my bank. The payments went through on July 2nd, but on July 3rd, the money was returned to my account by Amazon. On July 7th, Amazon retried the payment, and it went through.
- When I called Amazon, they said they couldn't find the charges I received for the fees. They said the only way to find the charges would be to provide the two 9-digit IDs (of letters and numbers) that should be listed on each charge in my bank account.
-
The only IDs listed in my bank account were 8-digit IDs that consisted only of numbers. So they advised me to call the bank to get the correct 9-digit IDs. The bank said they didn't have them. So now I have no idea how to get these IDs and figure out what these charges are actually for so I can potentially dispute them with Amazon.
I could dispute these charges directly through my bank, but it would be easier to get it settled with Amazon itself because I might not get my money back for 90 days if I go through the bank. I can't afford to be short $50 right now.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Does anyone know how to access these elusive 9-digit IDs?
