Amazon shares 100% accurate info with no one. API data is purposely somewhat skewed and not fresh. Amazon uses the site itself as a sandbox so from one hour to the next a category may or may not function as expected in any tool. All of these tool makers start with the same data. Then their brainiacs form relationships with numbers to arrive at the conclusions that they do. That point and the date when the data is pulled by the tool are why results vary from tool to tool. BSR and most numbers form any tool should be used as a guide. Nothing beats actual research. BSR, in particular, is one of the most manipulated numbers on Amazon. every giveaway and freebie style rebate skews BSR because you are creating a sale where it wouldn't have naturally occurred. Every suspension and suppression also skews BSR. BSR itself should stand for Bullsh^& Reporting. Don't bet your livelihood on it being right. For example. the only true measurement of listing quality is conversions. You can pay as much as you want for listing optimization. Ask the person who did it if they compared the listing to the top sellers. The listing itself may look and seem optimized but regardless of what KPI it surpasses or what anyone tells you if it doesn't convert, how can it be optimized? If the message within the listing doesn't resonate with the buyer it is not optimized. Let's say I'm a top seller and you want to take that away. Some stupid tool tells you that you have to do so many sales to rank for this keyword, so many for that keywords and so many for a third keyword. You bust your arse and give away your margins through rebates to people that will never buy again from you. The minute your rebate ends your listing crashes and burns because you cannot maintain the traffic. What your tool didn't tell you is that we teach clients to not rely on Amazon for traffic generation and to do it themselves off of amazon. then traffic amazon sends to the listing is over and above what they generate for themselves. your tool didn't tell you that info nor did it tell you that the amount of traffic in total that we push to a listing is beyond the available traffic numbers sustainable by amazon itself. Your belief in a tool just bit you in the arse, very hard. The hidden secret to controlling your costs, aCos, etc... is to increase sales. I don't deposit BSR in the bank, I deposit proceeds from sales. BSR is not a driver of traffic, locating targeting and communication the advantages of our products to our target audience is a driver of warm traffic and sales. With the failure rate of new sellers at record levels and only getting worse, id say it makes sense that the currently popular methods and tools either do not work to produce the desired results or sellers gain a false sense of security from it and never progress. If most new sellers are using these tools yet only 4 or 5 out of every 100 new sellers are still selling after 12 months, what does that say about the tools and methods? More on reddit.com
