My order is one day delivery, fulfilled by Amazon and the estimated delivery date is today. It's about 4pm and the status is still 'Preparing for Dispatch' which it has been on since I placed the order early in the morning on the 10th.
Edit: Turns out they just didn't update the Order details section and it turned up as expected anyway. Stills says 'preparing for dispatch' however.

u/ajs1004 doesn't know what he's talking about. Unless things are drastically different in the UK (I'm assuming you're in the UK). In the USA, I routinely have One-Day parcels shipped 10pm at night. Doesn't matter when it actually goes out, that's when Amazon sends the email and updates the Order History page...

Amazon employee here. They put em' on whatever delivery vehicle that will still meet the promise, so if it's 1-day they put it on whatever truck will get it there in 1-day. This can go wrong when there's slowdowns on the delivery side, though. It's pretty unheard of for the product not to be dispatched on time. Amazon's warehouses are pretty efficient. Orders can be filled within 45 minutes.
