I returned an item right before Christmas by dropping it off at the UPS store, and they scanned the QR code and gave me a receipt. When I check the return status it's still showing "return requested" and telling me I need to return it by February something. There's a reference number on the receipt from the UPS store, but how do I check it? I don't see a spot on amazon to do so, and on the receipt it says to "contact Amazon for status." I already got the replacement item, but I'm worried that they are going to double charge me because they didn't update the return to show that I returned it!

It happens frequently around this time of year. I had to wait a month last year around Christmas for a return to be processed, and seems like this year is the same for me. Since it got boxed up at UPS with a lot of other people's return items, we don't get an individual tracking number. I think it depends how busy UPS is.....sometimes they will box up my item individually and I get my own tracking number but around December, it's just a reference number without tracking because they put many return items in one big box. And of course the frustrating thing is there is no way to know where your return item currently is, since the return page is useless and makes it seem like you still have the item However, that reference number in the UPS receipt can actually be tracked on Amazon's internal system. I forget exactly how but I did it last year after calling them repeatedly about my returned item not being refunded for a month. It's some web address that incorporates that reference number at the end. It can show you more specific tracking info if you figure out what the web address is that Amazon uses

I think they changed it so you can only do it through the app now. The option to track it seems to be missing from the webpage, but it's still there on the app. The other issue, of course, is when you pick drop-off locations, they don't give you your refund till after they get the item back. I've never had that issue using a UPS store, as soon as they scan it, I get my refund. So my advice is to do that, plus it costs them money.

Never ever return anything from Amazon to Kohl's. Either someone is stealing or there are major operational errors between the two companies. I was charged for items both time I return things to Kohl's. One of which was > $200 and because I was instructed to return multiple order# into one package per Amazon instruction, it was a nightmare that took 2 hours+ and counting trying to figure out all the order# for that one package when I chat Amazon associate online - they insist they couldn't pull all those order # together (when I clearly got an instruction email from Amazon with every items listed). So it is up to you to compile that list when you talk/chat with them. If you don't remember anything, remember this - DO NOT RETURN AMAZON ITEMS TO KOHLS.

I dropped off a few Amazon returns at Kohls yesterday and was given tracking IDs. I've spoken with Kohls customer support and Amazon customer support. I've also entered the tracking ID in all of the carriers Kohls has listed on one of their help pages, but it all turns up invalid.

I think they changed it so you can only do it through the app now.
