Work for a company doing primarily wholesale. We started 4.5 years ago with very little capital and a failing brick and mortar store. Last year we did 13m in sales with aprox. 15% margins (after everything aside for salaries). We have invested millions into inventory. We are in a very cyclical industry however, so the turnaround is very quick, we rarely carry more than 60 days of coverage and prefer around 45. We are also investing heavily in PL items in our industry. We started with 0 sales and 4.5 years later we average just under 1m a month with our seasonal sales this past year topping over 2.5 mil. The reality is that you will join a listing with 30 other sellers probably buying in much larger quantity than you and getting better prices from the distributor.
