It is true that it's not documented, but historical posts have shown it to be a fault on one of the power rails on the system board - the only real solution is to replace the board.

The blinking pattern you’re observing on your Dell Inspiron 3558 (4 times amber followed by 1 time white) indicates a Battery Issue. Since your laptop is an older model, it’s possible that the battery has reached the end of its lifespan. Battery Replacement: You’ll need to replace the battery. You can find compatible replacement batteries for your Dell Inspiron 3558. Here’s a link to a replacement battery that you can consider. Battery Report Check: Create a battery report to check the status of your current battery. Open a Command Prompt window (search for 'cmd' in the Start menu). Type the following command and press Enter: powercfg /batteryreport This will generate a battery report. Locate the report file (usually saved in your user folder) and open it. Compare the Design Capacity value with the Full Charge Capacity value. For a healthy battery, these values should be nearly the same. Temporary fix/Workaround: Hard Reset Turn off the laptop. Disconnect  the AC adapter and remove the battery or simply remove the base cover and disconnect the battery cable. Disconnect all devices such as USB drives, printers, webcams, and media cards (SD/xD). Press and hold the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to drain the residual power. Connect the AC adapter and battery. Turn on the computer. If you still need assistance, please contact support by clicking the ‘Get Help Now’ button located at the bottom right corner of the page.
