Are the Microcenter CPU/Mobo bundles any good?
No the bundles are a good deal, they were even better a few months ago when RAM was included (got removed because RAM price has exploded). Assuming this a gaming build (and even for many other builds) the difference between B650 and X870 is pretty much irrelevant, B650 is plenty good. Also if it is a gaming build I would probably go toward either the 7600X3D bundle or the 7800X3D bundle, either is better for gaming than the 7700X/9700X. Also to mention that the 7800X3D is better for gaming than any of the non-X3D CPUs, only the newer 9000 series X3Ds are better. More on reddit.com

Which AMD Microcenter Bundle?
I have bought two 7800x3d bundles. They are fantastic. I am going to get a 9700x and 9900x or 9950x bundle with the mobo upgrade on the 99x0x. Your choice between the 7800x3d or 9700x depends on the gpu. If you are getting a 5080, 9070xt or better I would say spend the extra 100 for the 7800x3d. Otherwise put the 100 dollars into a gpu upgrade. Honestly I would still be tempted to go with the 9700x and 9070 xt. These deals are by far the best deals you can find right now. If you look at the 9900x with motherboard upgrade that motherboard is fantastic. You get 4 nvme slots with two being 5.0. Also make sure you get inland nvme performance plus. These outperform much more expensive drives that I have tested. These are the only drives I buy now if I am going to microcenter. I live outside the usa so that is not very often. More on reddit.com

r/buildapc on Reddit: Are the Microcenter CPU/Mobo bundles any good?
November 13, 2025 -

I am looking to build a new computer (current computer was built in 2019 i5-9600k, RTX 2070), and I live close enough to a Microcenter to be able to consider their CPU/Mobo bundles. My general use case for computers is I build one every 5-6 years and dont really make upgrades along the way, so "future proofing" doesnt really matter to me, as by the time the future is here I will just build a new computer.

Looking at the Logical Increments guide, I was thinking at something around the Outstanding tier (RTX 5070, R7 9700X, 32GB ram). The only mobos they have to pair with the R7 9700X are B650, while the LI guide is listing X870 mobos. From a quick google search, it looks like the primary difference is PCI-E 5.0, but it doesnt sound like a RTX 5070 would saturate PCI-E 4.0 anyways so I am not sure it really matters. Are there any other significant difference between the chip sets that offer any real tangible benefit?

It looks like B650E is more or less the same as X870, but that would change the bundle to the R7 7800X3D or R7 9800X3D CPUs which is basically the same price as the R9 9900X with an X870E mobo.

Or is there real value in just skipping the bundles and buying the components from the LI guide?

r/buildapc on Reddit: Which AMD Microcenter Bundle?
April 26, 2025 -

Both my husband and I are building new PCs for gaming. Microcenter is offering a couple cpu/ram/mobo bundles and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it or if I should buy different parts separately. I'm not seeing great reviews on any of the motherboards.

https://www.microcenter.com/site/content/bundle-and-save.aspx

I'm looking at the 9700x, 9900x or the 7800x3d options. Thoughts on either of those options with either of the motherboards available?

I would upgrade to the Corsair Vengeance ram.

Thanks for any help or advice.

If this is just for gaming there is barely any difference with faster RAM once you go past DDR5-6000 so I would save the money or put it towards something else. https://youtu.be/JuUhnQaGG_I?si=cs-AeE6rrwpsSwO6&t=469 It's usually cheaper to get the Microcenter bundle than buying them separately as for the motherboard they all seem good to me. As for which one to get that will depend on the games you play and the resolution. If you play at 1080p or games that benefit a lot from the 3D V cache then get the 7800X3D. If you play at 4k you will be better off getting the cheaper 9700x bundle and put the extra savings towards a better GPU.

Hi!

I know microcenter has their CPU/MOBO/RAM bundles, and I’ve been looking through them on their website. They are obviously very good deals, but I’ve got my heart set on a specific motherboard, and I was wondering if there is any flexibility in the specific MOBO/RAM that you get with the CPU. I’ve heard someone say you may be able to “convince the sales rep” to swap it for you, but I am not sure how true this is. Assuming the alternate parts are similar price, would swapping them be anyway possible perhaps with a slightly higher bundle price)?

Thanks for the help.
