Description of Problem: After using my PC for a while (even just watching simple videos or doing light tasks), my RX580 GPU causes the system to slow down significantly. The only temporary solution is pressing Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to restart the graphics driver, which fixes the issue until it happens again after some time. The problem seems to occur more often when I use apps like Chrome or Telegram, but it’s not exclusive to that app. I’ve already disabled hardware acceleration in both Chrome and Telegram, but the issue still persists.
Troubleshooting:
-
Updated/Reinstalled Graphics Drivers: I’ve made sure the RX580 driver is up to date, but I also performed a clean installation using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove any leftover files from previous drivers, and then reinstalled the latest version.
-
Checked Hardware Acceleration Settings: I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome and Telegram, but the issue still happens. I made sure that it’s also turned off in other apps that might be using hardware acceleration.
-
Monitored Resource Usage: I’ve monitored GPU usage and CPU load using Task Manager, GPU-Z, and MSI Afterburner to see if any app is using excessive resources when the problem occurs. I haven’t seen anything abnormal.
-
Tried an Alternative OS (Linux): I don’t face this problem in Linux (Debian).
Has anyone experienced similar issues with their RX580 on Windows 11, or could anyone suggest a solution? It seems to be a problem specifically related to how the GPU interacts with certain apps, but I can’t seem to isolate it completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
