[HUB] Ryzen 7 7800X3D vs. Core i7-13700K, The Best $400~ CPU For Gaming?
Every article/video seems to compare game performance first. And it goes something like this: AMD IS THE BEST FOR GAMING, also intel is same or considerably better for other stuff but AMD IS STILL THE BEST FOR GAMING. I am a little confused here. Is it fair to compare CPU with 8 cores and CPU with 16 cores (20 in case of 14700) in types of applications that won't use more than 2, maybe 4 at most? That seems like comparing Hummer and Bugatti on gravel and concluding that Hummer is the better choice. I get that if you exclusively game on your CPU, then you shouldn't care for amount of cores, since the CPU is a complete package. That isn't my case though, and with all of the praise AMD is getting I almost feel wrong for considering Intel.
At least that's how I feel, because everyone and their mother decided that every rig is gaming rig now apparently. I do plan to play games from time to time, but majority will be coding. I probably won't use things like blender or photoshop, but will use VM, maybe even multiple instances at once, one or two IDEs at a time and I might try to do gamedev as an experiment, so UE 4/5. Does this mean intel is the way? Where I live they cost about same, and 14700k being about 50 bucks more I might even go for it.
P. s. I heard of awesome efficiency of 7800x3d, that it draws like 4 times less power than 13700 does. But I live in a country, where the electricity is cheap, so it is not on the list of main concerns. However cooling is, and although I don't recall hearing that Ryzen is easier to cool, I would assume so. However I decided to go for Arctic LF3 280/360, so that should keep even intel chip cool.
So I'm making my first PC and wondering what CPU should I get? I'm only this PC strictly for gaming, emulation, slight video editing, and nothing else. I've seen these two CPU's as not top of the line, but high-end, and I want to know which one is best for my needs. Everyone keeps saying Intel for the 7200 memory boost it offers and its more cores and threads. But they also say AMD for its 3D V-cache and cooler efficiency. I'm stuck between the two, so i wanna have a definite answer before I pull the trigger rn. (If you're wondering about prices here, the 7800X3D costs $369.99 and the I7-13700K is $364.99) Thanks!
