Does anyone think that X3D is just a marketing strategy by AMD? It's faster in gaming and mostly by a solid margin. The 9800X3D even more so. They don't need to do a lot of marketing, every single tech outlet confirms the exact same. That's the reason why it's so expensive, everybody wants them because they are the best, even if the difference in price does not reflect the margin by which. On the other hand, almost nobody wants intel anymore. A dead platform, and both 13th and 14th gen CPUs suffered from degradation issues which scared many costumers away, so they are in low demand, and the price drops. That does mean you can now pick up a 14700K (which is a great all round CPU, especially if you do productivity aside from gaming) for very little. If you're not afraid of the degradation issue and don't mind that you won't be upgrading, it's a great value CPU. But for gaming, AMD is comfortably superior at the moment. More on reddit.com

7800X3D would be a no brainer, for me. The platform is still near the beginning of it's life, but not too early that most of the bugs haven't been worked out in BIOS updates. 14700k is on a platform that is essentially dead now. No more upgrade options. IMO it only makes sense to go with 14th gen. if you're currently on 12th gen. and looking to upgrade. Say... if you originally got a 12400 because you were budget constrained at the time, but now need more power. I suppose there's an argument for 14700k if you know with near certainty you won't be upgrading for the life of the system. Some people prefer to scrap their build and go brand new each time. That's fair, but I'd personally prefer to have options. More on reddit.com
